According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Liverpool are prepared to make an offer to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s superstar Julian Brandt in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Reds are reportedly prepared to match Brandt’s release clause which is set to be at £21.5m.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is currently enjoying one of their best seasons ever in the Premier League ever since the club formed back in 1892. The Merseyside club sits at the summit of the Premier League table and are two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City still have a game in hand but Liverpool has done exceptionally well to remain in contention with the blue half of Manchester until this stage of the season.
The Story Involving This Liverpool Target
Guardiola’s side ran away with the title last term when they broke multiple records on their way to winning the Premiership, amassing a staggering 100 points as well in the process. Liverpool is ensuring that this year’s title race goes down to the wire because they will not go away without a fight.
The Reds have also made it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League and look well equipped to win the continental trophy. Despite not being at their free-flowing attacking best this season, Liverpool have managed to score goals when it mattered as each one of their front three attackers has stepped up to the plate. But Klopp wants Liverpool to compete for silverware regularly and therefore wants to bring in reinforcements in the summer transfer window to bolster his squad if they fail to win any trophies this season.
One area that Liverpool have lacked depth in is their attacking midfield zone. With Alex Oxlade Chamberlain out, Naby Keita wasn’t able to step up into the role and there was a lack of creativity which did not help the attackers. Klopp now wants to sign a top-quality playmaker that can fill in the shoes of the departed Philippe Coutinho.
What Next For The Reds, Will A Deal Happen?
Recent reports suggest that Liverpool are prepared to make a bid for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Julian Brandt in the upcoming summer as the English giants are ready to match his release clause. Brandt has been in great form for the German side this season, scoring seven times and assisting a further 11 more across all competitions this season.
Brandt’s release clause gets activated if Leverkusen is unable to finish inside the Champions League spot. The Bundesliga outfit are seven points off fourth place as they sit in eight place on the Bundesliga table. Liverpool will be able to afford the talented German winger at a price of £21.5 million in the summer.
Liverpool are set to be in a three-way battle with Juventus and Real Madrid for Bayern Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt this summer.

Brandt has been linked with a move to Anfield ever since Klopp took the reins of the club back in 2015. 22-year-old is a gifted technician and certainly deserves to play at a top club because of his ability and desire to grow as a player. However, the Reds should act quickly if they want to sign Brandt as Real Madrid and even Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on his situation.
