According to the latest reports, Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson has made a bit of a transfer request to the club board in order to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson Odoi in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Scotsman revealed that he was glad to see the back of Hudson Odoi after Liverpool’s encounter against Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is currently enjoying one of their best seasons ever in the Premier League ever since the club was formed back in 1892 as they sit at the top of the pile. The Reds are two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City but Pep Guardiola’s side still has a game in hand. The Blue half of Manchester stormed their way to the Premier League title last season breaking multiple records in the process and amassed a staggering 100 points. Liverpool is keen on ensuring that Manchester City are not going to run away with it this season and the title race will go down to the wire.
The Merseyside club recently overcame arguably their toughest game in the last run of fixtures after a 2-0 win at Anfield against West London club Chelsea. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah netted in the second half to earn Liverpool a crucial three points and put them back at the summit of England’s top flight. But the reason that Chelsea was a major threat for Liverpool was because of the players high up the pitch. One of them was teenage superstar Callum Hudson Odoi and he was making only his third start in the Premier League.
Although the 18-year-old wasn’t able to spark a comeback for his side and do anything worthy of making an impression but his counterpart on the side Andrew Robertson was glad that the English star had a quiet night.
The Chelsea academy graduate was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the January winter transfer window and was linked with a move to Bundesliga club Bayern Munich but Chelsea did not allow him to leave. Hudson Odoi has just one year on his current Chelsea deal and has not agreed to sign a contract extension. Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson believes that the Chelsea starlet has a bright future ahead of him.
Speaking to news outlet Metro, the 25-year-old defender said, “I knew about him before, a lot has been said about him. He has been linked with Bayern Munich and made his England debut. I am sure he has a fantastic career ahead of him, he is only young. It is better not to put too much pressure on him because he can be a great player. I managed to keep him quite quiet which is a positive for me because I know good and creative he can be. I was just happy to see the back of him when he was taken off. But I am sure he will go on to big things.”
