Liverpool Star’s Recent Comments May Not Be Taken Kindly To In Spain

According to the reports, Liverpool superstar Andrew Robertson had stated that the Reds must treat each game with the utmost respect even because every game now seems like the most important game at this stage of the season. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool faced a Premier League clash against Cardiff City on Sunday and the prospect of Barcelona in the upcoming few weeks in a massive semi-final in the Champions League.

Liverpool are currently enjoying one of their best seasons in the Premier League ever since the club formed back in 1892 as they sit at the top of the Premier League table, two points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Although the blue half of Manchester still has a game in hand, Liverpool have done incredibly well to remain in contention for the title race with only three games remaining. Pep Guardiola’s team ran away with the Premier League title last season when they stormed their way to a staggering 100 points, breaking plenty of records in the process as well. However, Liverpool are ensuring that this season’s title run will go right down to the wire as Klopp’s side will not be shifted without a fight.

The Merseyside club have also made it to the Champions League semi-finals after slaughtering FC Porto 6-1 on aggregate in the quarterfinals. Now Liverpool face the difficult task of clashing against Spanish table-toppers FC Barcelona in the next round with one eye on the Premier League as well. Ahead of the clash against Cardiff City FC, Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson has revealed that the Reds will take each game with the most respect because of the seriousness in both the tournaments.

When asked about which game is bigger, the one at Cardiff or the one at Barcelona, the Scottish full-back said, “They are both as big as each other,’ is the view of Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson.  Barcelona is far in the future. We cannot think about that. We are still going for a league title. We are fighting against Manchester City. Every game is as big as the next one.” Robertson highlighted that the key for Liverpool will be to take every game as it comes and one step at a time. The 25-year-old also added that the pressure has no bearing on Liverpool as all they can do now is rack up wins and points to put the pressure back on Manchester City to slip up:’It has no bearing on us, we know it is out of our control. All we can do is impact our own games, so it makes no difference if we watch it or not.”

Liverpool will encounter Barcelona next week and Robertson will have the mammoth task of keeping Lionel Messi quiet over the two legs. The Argentine has been in sublime form this season as the heartbeat for Barcelona but Robertson has insisted that he will think about Messi when the time is right, “I will not lose sleep just yet, I will think about that another day!”

One thing to be noticed about this comment is that, though it is in the right spirit, it may not be taken kindly to back in Spain. Barca is one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season and the fans may have something to say when the Scottish defender makes the trip to the Nou Camp.
