According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Manchester United are looking to offload star striker Marcus Rashford in the upcoming summer transfer window with interest from Barcelona looming.. However, Barcelona wants to sell Rashford as well in the near future in order to make massive profits just like they did a couple of seasons ago with Neymar Jr.
Ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge of Manchester United back in December, he has turned the fortunes of the club around. The Norwegian inherited the club from Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho who left United in tatters when he was the manager of the club in the initial months of the new season. The 56-year-old ‘Special One’ instilled a very defensive style of football into the club and that wasn’t taken too kindly by the club faithful and he was sacked after poor performances. But Solskjaer has made an imminent impact at the club playing positive football and guiding the club to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
United’s dream run in the competition was ended by La Liga giants Barcelona as they eliminated the English side over two legs in the past week. But Solskjaer was still appointed as the clubs manager on a permanent basis for his impressive results in the Premier League, trying to push them into contention for a top-four spot in England’s top flight.
One player who has turned his career around since the turn of the year has been English striker Marcus Rashford. The young attacker has been thriving after being moved to a more central position and has been playing with a lot more confidence because he is able to show his abilities. Rashford’s performances have been so good that he has pushed Belgian star Romelu Lukaku further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
These stellar displays have attracted interest from Spanish outfit Barcelona in the summer and the Catalonians are preparing a massive bid to lure the youngster to the Camp Nou. Recent reports have emerged in which Barcelona are willing to offer close to £100m for the Manchester United man and Solskjaer could be tempted to sell Rashford and bring in reinforcements.
However, Barcelona has an agenda of their own and are going to use Rashford as an investment of their own. The 21-year-old is still a raw talent and Barcelona plan on developing him to become an even better player. Barcelona is going to use Rashford as their long term replacement for star forward Luis Suarez, the Uruguayan is now 32 years old and is not at the peak of his powers. But Barcelona also is planning a shrewd move in order to make money as they did with former star winger Neymar.
The Brazilian was brought in at Barcelona back in 2013 and then sold to Ligue 1 club Paris Saint Germain for a world record transfer fee of £198m four years later, which was one hell of a deal. The England international also impressed Barcelona when Manchester United faced the La Liga table-toppers over the past week.
