According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Chelsea are keen to sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic, who is currently on loan at Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin. However, the situation for the Blues remains only if they are able to purchase players if their transfer ban is lifted.
Maurizio Sarri has done quite an incredible job since taking charge of the Chelsea football club in the summer of 2018 and replacing his fellow Italian compatriot Antonio Conte at the helm. The 60-year-old former Napoli master tactician received plenty of praise and plaudits from fans and pundits across the globe.
Chelsea Wants To Sign This Liverpool Midfielder; Will A Deal Happen?
That was for bringing in an attractive and effective brand of football into the Premier League. Sarri also guided Chelsea to the League Cup final but failed to win a trophy in his debut season as he lost to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in a penalty shootout. The West London club has also made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League and look like serious contenders to go on and win the continental trophy.
Chelsea is also in line to finish inside the top four. They currently occupy the fourth spot in the top-flight table and should be eligible to play Champions League football next season. The Londoners control their destiny. However, Sarri will probably let Mateo Kovacic head back to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
He has lined up a replacement for the Croatian midfielder. Liverpool star Marko Grujic has been extremely impressive at Hertha Berlin this season. He has caught the eye of the Blues.
Liverpool is currently on the hunt for two trophies this season, the Premier League and the Champions League and Jurgen Klopp already has a massive squad of midfielders at his disposal. The German boss is not keen on bringing Grujic back to Anfield and is keen to sell him in order to generate transfer funds for other players.
What Next For The Blues Now; Can They Make A Major Impact?
Grujic has been unable to cement a starting berth at Liverpool. That is since making a move to the English club from Red Star Belgrade back in 2016. He was immediately loaned back out to the Serbian club. In three years he has made just eight league appearances for Liverpool. Grujic is a good passer of football and looks quite comfortable in it as well. That is due to his ability to hold up play as well. The 23-year-old has been compared to Nemanja Matic.

Grujic has scored four goals for Hertha Berlin this season. He also notched up one assist in the Bundesliga. That helped the German club to 10th in the table. Liverpool is now prepared to sell Grujic for a transfer fee of £40m. La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have been admiring the hard-working midfielder.
The Reds can then use that cash to purchase their transfer targets in the summer. But Chelsea is also keen on signing Grujic to provide stiff competition for Atletico Madrid. However, it still depends if Chelsea suffers a transfer ban or not for two transfer windows. Also, how much they are serious about signing the Reds’ star.
