Two Serie A Clubs Are Interested In Signing Manchester United Star, Will Solskjaer Actually Sell?

According to the latest reports, Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a move to either one of two Serie A clubs including Inter Milan and Napoli in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Belgian forward has not really made an impact on the United faithful with his spell at the club following a big money move to Old Trafford back in the summer of 2017 despite scoring goals on a regular basis.

Manchester United have had quite a shambolic season this term as they finished in sixth place in the English Premier League table. Initially, the red half of Manchester were coached by Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho but the United fans were extremely unhappy with his defensive tactics and philosophy. With poor performances and no results to back up his showings, the ‘Special One’ was given the sack earlier in December. United then turned to a familiar face in the form of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to handle the reins at least until the end of the season. The Norwegian exceeded expectations in his initial few games as interim boss of the club.

Solskjaer guided United to the quarterfinals of the Champions League in dramatic fashion after overcoming a 2-0 deficit to win 3-1 at the Parc Des Princes as Romelu Lukaku scored twice to help the English side progress through to the next round. United also strung together a bunch of positive results in the Premier League and came close to finishing inside the top four and nearly securing a Champions League berth for next season. These impressive performances gave the 46-year-old Solskjaer a three-year permanent contract but the results weren’t as desirable after he penned the deal.

United crashed out of the Champions League and suffered a few humiliating defeats in the Premier League which kept them out of the top four as they finished sixth on the table. There is no doubt that Solskjaer got a brighter idea of his squad and what he needs to do in the summer to bolster his team for the future. One player who is on the exit door at Old Trafford is Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku as he does not look like he will be included in Solskjaer’s plans in the near future.

Serie A giants Inter Milan are keen on signing Lukaku in the summer and lured him to the San Siro because Antonio Conte is an admirer of the 26-year-old. However, the Italian club are still skeptical about the valuation of the move. Although the Premier League giants are willing to allow Lukaku to leave, they will demand around €80m for him.

Inter are also looking to offload their talisman Mauro Icardi in the summer transfer window, in order to raise fund and will want to complete a move for Lukaku as a replacement for the Argentine. However, Napoli is also interested in signing Lukaku (as the recent stories have confirmed) and the Partenopei will also look to snap up the Manchester United man if a deal fails for Inter Milan.
