According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Manchester United have offered a contract extension for their Spanish midfielder Juan Mata, while Antonio Valencia will follow Ander Herrera out of Old Trafford in this summer’s transfer window. United have already started to make the tweaks that they require and are trying to get themselves prepared for next season.
Manchester United suffered quite a torrid time in the Premier League this season as they finished in sixth place in the table. At the start of the campaign, United were being managed by Jose Mourinho but the United faithful weren’t too satisfied with the way he was going about things at the club after instilling a very defensive philosophy with no conviction in the attack. With no results to show for the abysmal performances, the ‘Special One’ received the writing was on the wall for the 56-year-old as he received the sack in December.
The Red Devils then hired a temporary manager in the form of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to add some stability and keep the sinking ship afloat. The Norwegian immediately turned the fortunes of the club and exceeded expectations, helping United reach the quarterfinals of the Champions League in dramatic fashion after trailing 2-0 in the first leg to go on and win 3-1 at the Parc des Princes to progress through to the next round.
The red half of Manchester also strung together a bunch of positive results in the Premier League that helped them climb closer to fourth place in the table. These impressive performances under Solskjaer earned 46-year-old a permanent contract for three years. But United only went downhill from there onwards until the rest of the season. Manchester United were dumped out of the Champions League by La Liga giants Barcelona and they also suffered a massive collapse towards the latter part of the season in the Premier League.
Solskjaer now has a massive task on his hands for the next few months as he needs to recruit some top class players in order to start building a team. Daniel James became the season’s first summer signing of the season as the 21-year-old star winger joined the Old Trafford side from Championship club Swansea City. Solskjaer is also prepared to make massive changes to his squad and offload those players who are not going to help the club move in a forward direction.

Spanish play-maker Juan Mata has been offered a contract extension by United but it remains to be decided whether or not he will be willing to sign a new deal or not. However, his national compatriot Ander Herrera will be leaving Manchester United to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Along with Herrera, Antonio Valencia is another player who is on the exit door at Old Trafford and will be leaving soon, as his time at the club is all but over. The veteran Ecuadorian right-back is considered surplus to requirements and Manchester United have confirmed that along with Herrera, Valencia will also be leaving the club in the summer.
