According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Manchester United have made a bid to sign Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo this summer transfer window in order to bolster their squad for the upcoming season. The Spanish midfielder has impressed a few European suitors in the continent including Manchester United with his displays for the Croatian club.
Manchester United endured a torturous season this campaign as they finished in sixth place on the Premier League table and without any hopes and chances of winning silverware or major honors. Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club at the start of the season but his defensive and negative tactics did not go down well with the United faithful and the writing were on the wall for the 56-year-old. With no results and dire performances, United decided to sack the ‘Special One’ in December and appointed a familiar face in the form of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to handle the reigns at least until the end of the season.
Solskjaer exceeded expectations in his initial few games in charge of the club as the 46-year-old guided the club to the quarterfinals of the Champions League in dramatic fashion. United overturned a 2-0 deficit and won 3-1 at the Parc Des Princes to progress through to the next round of the European competition. United also strung together a bunch of positive results in the Premier League which got them close to a top-four finish. This handed the Norwegian manager a three-year contract to manage United on a permanent basis but after signing his deal, Solskjaer wasn’t able to generate the same results.
United suffered humiliation against Barcelona in the Champions League as they were eliminated from the elite European competition and also faced defeats in the Premier League including a 2-0 loss on the final day of the Premier League campaign against already relegated Cardiff City. This indicated that Solskjaer has plenty of work that needs to be done over the summer transfer window and beyond in order to at least try and win silverware with United over the next few seasons.
Manchester United have already completed deals for Daniel James and Aaron Wan BIssaka this summer and look ready to make a bigger splash in the transfer market. The Red Devils are now keen on signing Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo this summer window to bolster their squad for the upcoming season. The 21-year-old midfielder impressed for his national side as the Spain U-21’s won the Euro for the fifth time.
With French midfielder Paul Pogba still uncertain of his future at Old Trafford and Ander Herrera also joining Paris Saint-Germain, United have to bolster their midfield department and are eyeing Dani Olmo as a possible option for the future.
Olmo is considered a great passer of the ball and has the tendency to score goals as well on a regular basis which would help United in their attack. The midfielder is also versatile and can operate either on the right or the left-hand side of midfield. United have reportedly submitted a bid worth £35m to convince Dinamo Zagreb to sell Olmo.
