According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Manchester United are prepared to offer goalkeeper David De Gea a massive pay hike which will see him earn a stunning £350,000 a week with a contract extension. The Spanish star is running into the last 12 months of his contract deal at United and the English giants are desperate to tie him down to keep De Gea for a while longer.
Manchester United had a bit of a season to forget this term as they finished in sixth place in the table without any silverware. Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho was initially in charge of the club at the start of the season but his negative tactics and defensive approach did not go down well with the United faithful. The writing was on the wall for Mourinho as he the 56-year-old following a run of disappointing results and lacking performances without conviction. The ‘Special One’ was then sacked in December and left the club in dire straits and in a very problematic situation.
The United board then decided to hire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Mourinho’s successor to handle the reigns at least until the end of the season to stabilize the sinking ship. However, Solskjaer arrived and impressed heavily by exceeding expectations in his first few games in charge of the club. He dragged United into the quarter-finals of the Champions League and also strung together a bunch of positive results in the Premier League which handed him a three-year contract and a chance to become a permanent manager of Manchester United. But after signing his deal, the results spurned downward and Solskjaer wasn’t seemed to have lost his charm and winning ability. A humiliating defeat against Barcelona and disappointing results in the Premier League towards the back end of the season indicated that 46-year-old has a mammoth task ahead of him to improve and bolster his squad for the next few seasons.
There is one player who is on the verge of leaving Manchester United as his contract expires next summer. David De Gea joined the club back in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and helped United win the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and the Europa League during his time so far at Old Trafford. He has become a stand out player at United but came under some criticism for his high profile errors last season. United, though, are still desperate to keep him at the club because he is a world-class goalkeeper.

De Gea has firmly established himself as number 1 in the red half of Manchester and 28-year-old has only 12 months remaining on his current deal which will make him leave the club for free next summer. The 20-time English champions are now ready to step up and make De Gea the higest-paid keeper in the World, with an astonishing £350,000 a week deal. The talks have been going on for a while and this is a deal that the Spaniard probably could not possibly move away from, as the Red Devils look to retain his services at Old Trafford.
