According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Manchester United have the chance to offload superstar Alexis Sanchez this summer transfer window to Inter Milan but they might have to pay the Italian club to sell the striker.Sanchez is currently on the way to the San Siro in a loan deal but if his move becomes a permanent one, Inter could receive £36m for his departure.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United had a disastrous season last term as they finished in sixth place in the Premier League table. The Norwegian took over from Jose Mourinho after the Portuguese manager was sacked back in December. This summer transfer window, United have managed to strengthen their squad and bring back some players that could make a big difference in helping them finish higher on the table. The Red Devils demolished their fierce opponents Chelsea 4-0 on the opening day of the Premier League and drew 1-1 at the Molineaux Stadium against Wolverhampton on Monday night.
But despite the transfer window closing on 9th August, United can still decide to sell a few players as the European transfer window ends on 2nd September. One player that has been heavily linked with a move away from United is Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez. The 30-year-old forward arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way to the Emirates. Sanchez had just six months on his contract with Arsenal. However, Sanchez has had quite a disastrous spell since moving to Manchester United back in January 2018 as he has scored just five goals in 45 appearances for the red half of Manchester United.
The dip in form has been awful and Sanchez has not even been given a starting berth not a place on the bench which has pushed him closer to a move away from the club this summer window. Serie A club Inter Milan are looking to seal a deal for Sanchez before the end of the European transfer window on a loan deal. At the moment, Sanchez is a massive liability to Manchester United as he earns around £400,000 in wages every week and United are desperate to get rid of him before transfer deadline day to avoid paying his wages.
However, Inter Milan are not willing to match Sanchez’ exceeding wages and are prepared to offer around £150,000 a week. Therefore in order to make the South American’s move to Inter Milan permanent, United might have to pay them around £36m this summer to sign Sanchez. The issue with this move is that United will have to make Sanchez either play or sell him they cannot keep him as he will just be a big set back on their payroll.
His injuries have also not helped his cause as his career has been affected and his one and a half year at Old Trafford has been nothing less than turbulent. If Sanchez’ move to Inter Milan is confirmed he could partner up with Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku who also left United earlier this transfer window.
