According to the reports, Serie A champions Juventus were keen to offer Manchester United three players in exchange for midfield ace Paul Pogba. The three players that the Italian outfit are prepared to offer up for Pogba are Douglas Costa, Blaise Matuidi and Joao Cancelo (before he joined Manchester City) in return for the Frenchman to head back to Turin. This was the offer that had been made to Solskjaer and United, though they did not take it.
Manchester United suffered quite a torturous season last term as they finished in sixth place in the Premier League table. At the start of the season, Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club but the United faithful did not take too kindly to his defensive and negative tactics. With no results to show for the dire performances, the writing was on the wall for the ‘Special One’. In December, Mourinho was given the sack and the board turned to a familiar face in the form of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to stabilize the sinking ship at least until the end of the season.
However, the Norwegian manager impressed heavily in his initial few games in charge of Manchester United guiding them to the quarter-finals of the Champions League in dramatic fashion. United overturned a 2-0 deficit against the Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain by winning 3-1 at the Parc des Princes and progress through to the next round of the competition. The Red Devils also strung together a bunch of positive results in the Premier League which pushed them closer to a top-four berth. These performances and high spirited displays handed Solskjaer a three-year contract but after signing his new deal, the results weren’t as expected towards the back end of the campaign. United was dumped out of the Champions League by Barcelona and suffered a few humiliating defeats along the end of the Premier League.
This has indicated that Solskjaer has plenty of work to do in the summer and 46-year-old has already recruited Daniel James and Aaron Wan Bissaka in this transfer window. But one player that has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford is World Cup-winning French midfielder Paul Pogba. The 26-year-old Pogba has been subject to interest from his former club Juventus and the Serie A outfit is keen on bringing him back to Turin. Pogba’s transfer value of £150m is a bit too much for Juventus to splash out and therefore the Italian giants were willing to offer three players in exchange of cash for Pogba.

The three players that Juventus were willing to offload this summer in exchange for Pogba are Brazilian star winger Douglas Costa, French midfielder Blaise Matuidi and Portuguese right-back Joao Cancelo (who left for City).
Even La Liga giants Real Madrid are monitoring Pogba’s situation at the moment and the Los Blancos are eager to land the Manchester United ace to the Spanish capital. Pogba had already made quite a few appearances for United during their preseason friendlies in Australia and Solskjaer was also willing to offer Pogba the captaincy in order to remain at the club (which he eventually did).
