According to a report, Tottenham’s bid was accepted by Serie A giants Juventus for their Argentine star forward Paulo Dybala. The player had been in the headlines for a probable move to the Premier League and had been linked with quite a few clubs in England, including the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs. The North London club had seemingly stepped up their pursuit for an improved attack (though it did not happen), ahead of the new term, after they had to suffer a lot in the last term due to the lack of ample fire-power up front.
With their talismanic striker Harry Kane not been able to play through the whole 2018/19 season due to injury worries, players like Fernando Llorente, Heung Min Son and Lucas Moura to lead the line for Spurs in the crucial matches of the Premier League as well as the Champions League at times.
Though they miraculously made it into the final of Europe’s most elite club competition only to get beaten by Liverpool, their attack lacked the edge in the last term when it came to the domestic front, winning only one out of their last five matches of the last term.
Moura and Heung Min Son have been influential for the Whites up front in the last term, yet it goes without saying that Mauricio Pochettino’s side lack an impact player who can share the responsibility with Harry Kane. With Spurs competing in the Champions League in the next term, they would not like to miss out on repeating their performance from the last term and the inclusion of Dybala could be a huge step forward in relation to that.
As per the report, Manchester United and Arsenal have also been interested in the 25 year old forward. After a lacklustre 2018/19 season in both Serie A and Champions League, as Dybala managed to finish the season with only 10 goals and 5 assists to his name, it seemed that he is no more a part of the plans of the new Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri. However, both the Red Devils and the Gunners have reportedly failed in their pursuit to land the Argentine ace with Spurs looking interested in him.
However, the player had been reportedly unwilling to move out of Turin and especially to the Premier League. With the situation being this, it is to be seen whether the 25 year old Argentine ace stays with the Serie A Champions in the next term as well or moves out of the Juventus Stadium to ply his trade in the next term. As per the report, Manchester United looked the most likely to be the next destination for Dybala with Romelu Lukaku (though he joined Inter eventually) going the other way.
However, with Tottenham willing to flex their financial muscle (which wasn’t enough) to land the Argentine forward and add some significant firepower to their attacking lineup for the next season, it is now to be seen whether they can pull off probably the move of the season by landing Dybala on the deadline day.
