Liverpool won the first match of the Premier League season on Friday against Norwich City with a margin of 4-1. The Reds started off the season where they ended at the previous season. It was a fascinating win for the Reds at the beginning of the season. The talking points of the match are:
1. Liverpool’s attack looking lit again:
Liverpool created a lot of pressure on the defence of Norwich City in the first half of the match. The pressure resulted in the first goal of the match for the Reds. Divock Origi crossed the ball towards Roberto Firmino. The centre-back of Norwich City, Hanley wished to clear the ball; but unfortunately, his clearance went straight into his own goal.
After getting the first goal of the match, Liverpool began to show their own style of play. Mohamed Salah scored the second goal for Liverpool with a brilliant left-footed shot. The third goal of the Reds came from the corner taken by Mohamed Salah. Mohamed Salah picked Virgil Van Dijk correctly from the corner and the Dutch defender headed the ball towards the Goal.
After that at the end of the first half, Trent Alexander Arnold provided a perfect cross towards Divock Origi who headed the ball towards the goal. The first half ended with a scoreline of 4-0 in favour of Liverpool.
2. Norwich owned the second half against Liverpool:
Norwich City might be vulnerable at defence but they are quite good in the attacking third. In the first half of the match, they got quite a few chances. However, they failed to score from those opportunities. Marco Stiepermann took three shots. However, they were saved by Alisson. In the second half of the match, Liverpool defence looked a bit shaky.
After scoring four goals in the match, the Reds were not looking to increase the lead. At that point in time, Norwich City tried to exploit the defensive lapses of the Reds. Teemu Pukki scored a goal for the away side from the pass provided by Emiliano Buendia. Norwich City was trying to close the gap but they could not able to do so in the remaining portion of the match.
3. Alisson’s injury woe; bad news for Liverpool:
According to the manager of Jurgen Klopp, Alisson is going to miss the Super Cup final on Wednesday night. He also mentioned that they would like to assess the condition of the Brazilian Goalkeeper in the next few days. Some sources are telling that it is a calf injury and some are mentioning Achilles tendon injury. Whatever it is, it will be difficult for Alisson to make a comeback before one month.
4. Fantasy tips:
Mohamed Salah was captained by most of the FPL players in this game-week. The midfielder was phenomenal in this match. However, the surprise pick was Divock Origi. The player also got 12 points in this match same as Mohamed Salah. Alisson’s absence will now surely increase the ownership of the deputy Liverpool Goalkeeper Adrian. Pukki will certainly catch some owner after his performance in the first match.
