Arsenal lost to Sheffield United on the travels on Monday evening. The Gunners were quite poor in their match in the current game-week. They deserved to lose for the poor performance that they put in this game. A lot of their star players did not perform to the best of their abilities and there was no creative play yet again.
With that being said, Unai Emery is struggling to find the right combination. His play so far has been really poor and the fans are already on his back. They strongly believe that the Spaniard isn’t the right man for the Arsenal job.
There have been a lot of top talents within the ranks of the north London giants over the years. Some of them left the club in recent years to ply their trade elsewhere. However, with the crisis that Emery is in at present, having some of them would have made things much better.
Keeping that in mind, here are three former players that Arsenal misses (active) and could have really used at present-
Cesc Fabregas
The midfield play-maker wanted to rejoin under Arsene Wenger, who turned down a proposed deal to sign him. After joining Chelsea and winning quite a few titles with the Blues, Fabregas moved to Ligue 1 side Monaco.
However, with the creativity that the Spaniard has and considering Arsenal are lacking, he could have been a good signing for them. The fans also love him and he could have been a great addition to the squad.
Though he has lost some pace, he is just 32 at present and could have done a better job than the likes of Granit Xhaka and would be a better captain. His range of passing was still superb at Stamford Bridge, but unfortunately, Arsenal never reconsidered signing him.
Alexis Sanchez
One of the most prolific goal-scorers under Arsene Wenger, during his final years at the club. Sanchez was a one-man army, who saved The Gunners from multiple crises. His link-up play with Mesut Ozil was one of the best in the Premier League. However, since his move to Old Trafford, the Chilean failed to find any sort of form and was made an outcast.
He was sent away on loan to Inter Milan in the summer. His wages are just too high at present for any smaller club to afford them. However, he could have been good for the Londoners, who were in need of creative players, who can score goals as well. A combination of Lacazette-Aubameyang and Alexis Sanchez could have been deadly.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The Ox put in a solid performance in Liverpool’s Champions League triumph over Genk. The Reds won the match 4-1 on their travels, with the former Arsenal man scoring a couple of good goals. The second one was an absolute beauty and it showcased what the Londoners are actually missing at present under Emery.
A player like Chamberlain could have made a huge impact at the Emirates at present. However, the fact that he is no more at Arsenal is clearly a huge loss for the club that he left back in 2017.
