Chelsea Win Against Arsenal In The London Derby To Stay In The Top Four

Chelsea

It was yet another Chelsea win in a nail-biting thriller against the Gunners at the Emirates to stay at the top four of the table in the Premier League. The Blues stayed at the fourth position with 35 points in 20 matches so far. On the other hand, the Gunners stayed at the 12th position in the League table with 24 points in the same number of matches in the Premier League.

The Story Of The Game Between Chelsea And Arsenal That The Blues Won

The manager of the Blues, Frank Lampard came into the match with a 3-4-2-1 formation. Kepa Arrizabalaga was as usual under the bars for the Blues. Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger were deployed as three centre backs. Emerson Palmieri and Cesar Azpilicueta were playing as two wingbacks. Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante were there as two central midfielders. Willian and Mason Mount were just behind Tammy Abraham, who was present upfront as the lone centre-forward for the Blues.

On the other hand, the new manager of the Gunners went with his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. Bernd Leno was in the goal for the north London giants. The combination of Calum Chambers and David Luiz were deployed at the central defence. Ainsley Maitland Niles and Bukayo Saka were playing as two side backs in this match for the Gunners. Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi were there as two central defensive midfielders. Mesut Ozil was playing as the central attacking midfielder. Reiss Nelson and Pierre-Emerick Aubamyeang were operating from both the wings with Alexandre Lacazette being the lone centre forward.

What A Battle Between The Two London Giants It Was

Arsenal midfielder Mateo Guendouzi was shown the first yellow card of the match at the tenth minute. The Gunners took the early lead in the match because of poor defending of the Blues at the 13th minute.

It was a brilliant flick header from Calum Chambers to pass the ball towards Pierre-Emerick Aubamyeang. Aubamyeang easily crossed his marker Emerson Palmieri to head the ball perfectly into the net. Kepa Arrizabalaga had no chance to save the header. Calum Chambers was taken out of the field as he picked up a knock at the 23rd minute.

Shkodran Mustafi came in place of Chambers. Chelsea has been piss poor throughout the first 30-35 minutes of the match. Frank Lampard took off Emerson Palmieri to bring in Jorginho in the field. After the inclusion of Jorginho, Chelsea tried to equalise the scoreline with the much-needed impetus. However, the first half ended with a scoreline of 1-0 in favour of the Gunners.

In the second half, Chelsea came back stronger. They were pushing forward more and more. Frank Lampard brought in Lamptey in place of Tomori. Callum Hudson Odoi was brought in place of Mateo Kovacic. These two changes worked really well for the Blues. However, the equaliser of the Blues came with a mistake of Bernd Leno.

He misjudged the flight of the ball from a freekick of Mason Mount. Jorginho placed the ball perfectly into the goal. Tammy Abraham scored the winner at the 87th minute from a brilliant ball provided by Willian. The match ended with a scoreline of 2-1 in favour of the Blues, with finally a Chelsea win.
