Chelsea collected the all-important three points against Aston Villa on Wednesday to stay at the fourth position in the League table. It was a deserving win for Frank Lampard’s boys. They created so many chances throughout the whole match. However, they were able to score only two goals in this match.
The biggest surprise was the inclusion of Tammy Abraham in the starting lineup against his former side. Tammy Abraham was not in the squad against West Ham United on Saturday in the London Derby. In the match against Valencia, he picked up a hip injury. The doctors did not declare him match-fit ahead of the game against West Ham United. Tammy was not fully fit but he wanted to play against his former side. So, the manager of the Blues, Frank Lampard gave him the chance to express himself in this match.
The star Italian midfielder of Chelsea, Jorginho has been rested for obvious reasons. Jorginho was playing constantly for the club and the country. On the other hand, Frank Lampard is preferring to play Cesar Azpilicueta as left-back than Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso.
Reece James is doing a great job from the right flanks for the Blues. Kante came back in the starting lineup in place of Jorginho. Willian also started in this match in place of Pedro on Wednesday. Fikayo Tomori was also benched in this match for the Blues and Andreas Christensen was given a chance to pair with Kurt Zouma.
Chelsea got the much important lead in the first half when Tammy Abraham scored for them following a brilliant pass of Reece James. It was a pinpoint cross provided by Reece James and Tammy placed the ball perfectly into the goal.
However, after scoring the goal Chelsea looked really shaky. Things went just like the game against Manchester City. Chelsea had better ball possession and they were trying to play short passes. Aston Villa came with a high press strategy and that worked quite well.
Trezeguet equalised the score-line for Aston Villa and Chelsea failed to keep a clean sheet in yet another match. Kepa Arrizabalaga had no chance to save that. Reece James could have done better to mark the player who was coming from behind. The first half ended with a scoreline of 1-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Mason Mount scored the winner for the Blues in the second half. Tammy Abraham received the ball brilliantly by his chest and provided the ball towards Mason Mount. Mount took the shot from the rise and it went straight into the Goal. Tom Heaton had nothing to do with it. Chelsea created a lot of chances after getting the second goal in this match.
Despite that, they never got that insurance goal. Tom Heaton made some good saves. However, Aston Villa also got a few chances. Kepa had to make one good save to secure all three points for the Blues against Aston Villa. The match ended with a scoreline of 2-1 in favour of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
