Alisson Becker Opens Up On Why He Thinks Liverpool Stand A Chance This Year

Speaking in an interview, Liverpool star keeper Alisson Becker revealed that he strongly believes that the Red should win the Premier League this season. While talking to Neil Mellor in an interview, Liverpool’s Brazilian goalkeeper Allison confidently put his bet on Liverpool’s Premier League campaign 2019-20.

Opening up on why Liverpool stands a chance this year, Becker said: “The desire of the people is important for us and we have the same desire to win the Premier League this season.”

After having lost a very near contest (by one point) to Manchester City last season, Liverpool has been running a tight marathon this year. They are currently sitting on the top of the table leading with a clear eleven point difference and still a match to lose this season. This has been an ideal start for the Reds and where they’ve only struggled in a stubborn draw at Old Trafford.

The FIFA Goalkeeper Of The Year had been out owing to a calf injury he endured during their tie against Norwich. He then spent quite some time on his treatment and is enjoying a strong comeback. While speaking of his injury Addison said, “For a player, it is always difficult when you are not involved but in my life, I always like to see everything in a good perspective, even the difficult moments, even with an injury which is the worst thing that can happen to a player. ”

He believes that Liverpool with the current aggressive squad doesn’t only deserve a Premier League title but also can emulate their Champions League campaign of 2018-19. While talking to former England footballer Neil Mellor, Addison said, “My aims are to win everything we play for. Every time we go on the pitch to play a cup game, a league game or a Champions League games, we will give everything to win. The desire of the people is important for us and we have the same desire to win the Premier League this season. It’s something we try with our full heart to win because the people deserve it, the club deserves it and we deserve it also because of what we did last season and what we have done this season so far.”

Klopp’s men are the team to beat this season as there is no highlighting weakness visible when compared to the other teams who are trying to keep their chins up in a tough competition. Becker further added, “We need to keep going, keep playing to win every game and keep improving, that is an important thing, but we will try to win all the tournaments we play.”

Speaking of the weaknesses, Becker said: I think we are playing the way that is necessary to win, I think we can improve and this is a good sign because we are winning and we are not playing our best. We are playing as best as we can but some things we know we can do better, like the clean sheets. In a defensive way, sometimes with the ball, we can prepare better for the situations, but our mentality is our strong point and we are winning the games because of our strong mentality.”

“For us, it is a matter of keeping the high level for 90+ minutes. Sometimes in the game, in two or three moments, we just relax. Sometimes it is the quality of the opponent and you need to accept that, but we are working hard for the clean sheets.”

Liverpool will next face off against Sheffield United in the top flight of English football. It will be their first game of the New Year and the Reds will be hoping for a win, as they look to keep their unbeaten record intact.
