The Latest Comments By Frank Lampard- The winter break has arrived in a good time for Chelsea as they are expecting their injured players to be back fully fit. One of them is Christian Pulisic. The American was having a good run of form before he got injured and was sidelined for a month and the blues boss admits that the player of his quality is what certainly his team missed during last few games. It is a good time for his return as Chelsea will be facing big opponents after the winter break is over.
The top four race in the league is still on with Spurs and United are just one and three points behind the Blues respectively. Chelsea will face United first and then spurs at Stamford Bridge in the league before facing Bayern Munich in the first leg of the R-16 in the UCL. So it will be a boost for the Londoners to have Pulisic back.
“It is hard to answer [on when he will be back],” Lampard told reporters at the King Power Stadium. “We tried to get him out this week and step it up a little bit but we had to pull out of that. So the break might have come at a good time because it buys us a couple of weeks.
“I will not have an answer until we are back training. Yes, [we miss him] because he is a quality player and was having a really good patch pre-Christmas. But others have to stand up too. But, of course, we will be happy to have him back.”
This season Christian has made 23 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions and his stats are not bad. He has scored 6 goals including a perfect hattrick and also made 4 assists. Pulisic was benched in the start of the campaign by Frank but his consistent performance in attack made his a regular starter for the blues and his last game was on the new year’s day in a 1-1 draw at Brighton.
“We tried to get him out there last week, step it up a little bit, but we had to pull out of that,” Lampard said. “The break might have come at a good time, it buys us a couple of weeks.”
Chelsea suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United and were missing some of their key stars. With that being said, the loss hurt the Blues chances of a top-four finish. They will now have to respond with positive results in the upcoming matches, as they face some big challenges in the upcoming weeks.
This could be the make-or-break time for the west London outfit, who will be expected to be on top of their game. If results do not go Chelsea’s way, the Premier League giants could be in trouble. Frank Lampard will hope that his young guns can deliver and take advantage of their positive start to the campaign. If not, it could have an impact on their upcoming campaign.
