Talking Points: Manchester United 3-0 Watford; As Red Devils Secure Easy Win

Manchester United

Manchester United have thrashed Watford at Old Trafford on Sunday to climb up to the fifth position in the League table of the Premier League. The Red Devils are now certainly putting pressure on the fourth-placed side, Chelsea who are only three points ahead of them at this moment.

Here are the talking points of the match that Manchester United won :

1. Bruno Fernandes- The New Hero At Old Trafford:

The club management of the Red Devils has signed Bruno Fernandes in the winter transfer window. The inclusion of Bruno Fernandes in the squad has certainly strengthened Manchester United. They have been searching for a play-maker for the last few seasons. Finally, they have signed someone like Bruno Fernandes who can play as the proper number 8.

The Portuguese International is certainly changing the whole dimension of this Manchester United side. The manager of the Red Devils, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rested Bruno Fernandes in the Europa League match against Club Brugge.

However, he has come for the last 10 minutes of the match. After his inclusion in the pitch, Manchester United have been playing really well at the end of that match. The same thing has happened against Watford. The Red Devils have been looking like a different side altogether when Bruno Fernandes has the ball in his control. The star Portuguese playmaker has earned the penalty for the Red Devils at the end of the first half. He has converted successfully from the spot. In the second half, he has assisted in two goals for Manchester United. Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood scored for the Red Devils from the pass provided by Bruno Fernandes.

2. Watford- Not So Clinical:

Watford should have been more clinical in their approach. The Hornets have got many opportunities in the first half. Pearson’s side has been pressing really well. Manchester United have not been able to play their best football in the first half. However, after creating so many opportunities, Watford has failed to score a single goal in the whole match. Troy Deeney’s goal at the beginning of the second half has been cancelled by VAR due to the unintentional handball of a Watford player in the penalty box. The Hornets have taken 7 shots in total; out of which only 2 shots have been on target.

3. League Table Getting Interesting Day By Day:

Manchester City will face two years ban from playing in the Champions League. However, they will appeal to CAS to lift the ban. If the ban is not lifted after the end of this season, the fifth team in the League table will get the chance to play in the Champions League next season. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Wolves, Sheffield United and Arsenal are trying to climb up to the fifth position to secure Champions League football next season.

On the other hand, Watford is still in the relegation zone with 25/4 points. The Red Devils are looking more organized after the managerial change. Now they need to grab a few wins against lower placed sides in the League to avoid relegation.
