Timo Werner Closing In On A Move To Join Liverpool; Amid Manchester City And Manchester United Interest

Merseyside Reds are looking to strengthen their striking options in the summer and Timo Werner is their primary target. The 24-year-old RB Leipzig star is one of the hot prospects in Europe at the moment and he could leave the German club this summer. Werner so far has scored 27 goals from 33 apps this season already.
RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche has said in a recent interview that the German club is not worried about his departure.
He told the newspaper BILD, “There are not many things that favour him leaving us.”
Liverpool is arguably the best side in Europe at the moment but their concern is growing about their back up players those are on the bench. The difference in quality between the first team and the reserves is a worry.
In their last game, Jurgen Klopp made a few changes in the FA Cup tie against Chelsea and they got knocked out of the cup losing 2-0 to the blues where Chelsea didn’t put their best XI either. Divock Origi had an awful game in the wings and new signing Takumi Minamino still getting his grip on English football.

Werner has a £60m release clause this summer which the Liverpool boss is well aware of and if he wants the player he should activate it by the end of April. There will surely be a lot of competition for the player’s signature if he decides to leave the Bundesliga outfit.
Klopp, though needs options of attacking midfielders in his squad as Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri are expected to leave the team at the end of this season. There will be an absence for a month for Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah as well due to the African Cup of Nations.
If Liverpool are ready to sign Werner, they should be ready to make him a regular starter, rather than to keep him on the bench for too long.
Recently, Timo Werner was full of praise of the German coach Jurgen Klopp as the striker mentioned him as the “best coach in the world” and Liverpool is currently the “Best team in the world.”
When asked about it, the Liverpool boss replied, “Like always we have nothing to say about that but I prefer that when players talk about us they are positive, rather than saying ‘we are the last club they would ever go to’.”

“So from that point of view it is nice, but there is nothing else to say.”
Klopp’s team are currently out of form. They lost three games in the last four matches. All three losses though came at away grounds. They lost 1-0 away at Atletico Madrid in the Uefa Champions League first leg. Thereafter a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Watford before loosing 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup fifth round. Eventually, the Merseyside outfit was eliminated from the Champions League by the Spaniard, as they lost 3-2 in the second leg.
So this shows that there are some rooms for improvements even it is to strengthen their bench, it is important to do so. Big rival clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United have that strength in their locker, though they are also interested in adding Timo Werner to their current squad as well.
