Premier League giants Arsenal are said to be are considering a move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard. The attacker is being considered as a possible replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gunners skipper will enter the final year of his contract in June. The former Borussia Dortmund man has been attracting interest from the whole of Europe in recent months.
The Gabon international was linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months. He was also close to a switch to Camp Nou in January. However, a move did not happen. Further, he was linked to Chelsea. The Blues like to sign players from the Emirates, which has been seen in the past.
He has also emerged as a target of clubs like Manchester United, Inter Milan as well as Real Madrid. The Red Devils have been looking for more attacking options. They want to win titles as well and the star can be a good signing.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likes talent and the player (Auba) is just pure quality at present. Due to this, the links to Old Trafford could also materialize as well. The Manchester-based side has the money to spend. They could splash the cash on this Arsenal star if they want to.
A Lot Of Interest
With the sensational striker entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates, the Gunners could be looking to cash in on him in the summer rather than losing him for nothing in a year.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is looking to add to his frontline regardless of what happens with the Gabon international.
And as per reports in England, Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is the first name in his wishlist as the Spaniard looks to bolster his attack.
The 22-year-old has caught the eye of the Gunners with 61 goals in 125 appearances for the Scottish champions since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 initially on a loan deal.
Edouard, a French Under-21 international, had found the net 27 times this season before the campaign was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
What The Player Said?
His sensational run of form has also attracted the attention of Leicester City and Everton, who could get involved in a £30m transfer tug-of-war with the North London giants.
Despite the interest in him from the Premier League, the Frenchman has reassured the Celtic fans that he is more than happy at Celtic Park and is in no hurry to leave the club.
He said: “It is something incredible. When we go home after it has been an unforgettable night and when we play at Celtic Park on a European night, I really enjoy the atmosphere. I really appreciate what the fans do and I hope it continues that way.”
The Aubameyang-Exit Factor
The deal sounds all well and good. However, the main factor for this deal to go through is that fact that the Gabon international must leave first. If Arsenal is able to retain Aubameyang’s services, the deal might never happen. Due to this, it becomes important to monitor the attacker’s current situation at the Emirates.
Only time will tell whether he leaves or not. Champions League football will surely be a factor too. His father has already motivated him to extend his stay at Arsenal. However, the final decision lies in the hands of the player and his agent.
