Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton are reportedly lining up a £25m offer for Brazilian international Everton Soares. The Gremio attacker has made a strong name for himself in the last few years and has been linked with a host of the clubs across Europe in the last few windows but a move did not materialize. Despite that, it seems that new Toffees’ boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to bring him to Goodison Park now.
The 23-year-old was strongly linked with Arsenal as well as Borussia Dortmund in the summer. However, Arsenal opted to sign Nicolas Pepe from LOSC Lille on a club-record fee instead of the Brazilian forward and Dortmund also opted for Thorgan Hazard and Julian Brandt.
Everton Soares is still wanted by a host of clubs in Europe including the likes of Inter, AC Milan and a few more but it is believed that Everton are leading the race thanks to the presence of Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti is still one of the biggest names among the managers and remains a great pulling power and the Merseyside club believe that it works in their favour.
A move to Goodison Park will see the versatile forward link up with countrymen Richarlison and Bernard upfront. However, Bernard has seen his playing time hard to come under Ancelotti and he could be on his way out of the club soon.
Richarlison and Everton Soares were both part of the Brazil side that won the Copa America in 2019 and Everton was Brazil’s best player in the tournament. He won the prestigious Golden Boot and was named in the Team of the Tournament as well.
Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be unhappy with the attitude of most of the players at Everton and wholesale changes could be coming as Ancelotti looks to bring more quality to his side.
Only Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are expected to be the sole survivors of the overhaul in the attack which has already started with Cenk Tosun leaving on a six-month loan to London rivals Crystal Palace.
Everton Soares is a versatile attacker who is most comfortable as a wide forward on the left-hand side but is also capable of playing on the right as well as a centre-forward. The Gunners might be forced to offload some of their top players this summer. Stars like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil might he heading for an exit from the Emirates.
With that being said Mikel Arteta will be focused on bringing the best stars in, who can help his cause. He has made some practical changes to the side but there is a huge requirement of more talent and character. Keeping that in mind, Everton could be a good steal at the end of the current campaign.
He would be a quality addition to the Toffees and that too on the long-term as he is still just 23 years of age. With both goal-scoring ability and the capability of creating a lot of chances from open-play, the player could be a long-term asset.
