Experienced midfield dynamo Arturo Vidal could be convinced to snub a move to Manchester United in favour of Newcastle United. This could be the case if Max Allegri takes over at St James’ Park. Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is closing in on the verge of selling the club. A mega-rich Saudi-based consortium could buy the club in a £300m deal. Barcelona are also set to offload a few stars and Vidal could be one of those.
This could change the fortunes of the North East club. They could once again become one of the biggest clubs in the country with financial backing from the new owners.
Bookmakers have slashed the odds on successful Italian manager Max Allegri, who left Juventus last season and still remains out of work, making a sensational switch to Newcastle replacing Steve Bruce. According to reports in Italy, midfielder Vidal reckons that Newcastle could be the ideal destination for him as he believes the Toons could have a “very attractive growth plan” if their mega-money takeover goes through.
The Chilean star could be convinced to reunite with Allegri at Newcastle, with the pair previously spending a very successful season with each other at Juventus. Manchester United are also linked with the 32-year-old as they seek further creative options in their midfield.
Why Vidal Does Not Want A United Move?
It is said that Vidal is not sure that he will fit well at Old Trafford. Solskjaer has a decent number of options in the middle of the park. Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte, who spent three seasons with Vidal at Juventus, is also looking to bring the midfielder back to Italy.
Vidal left the Turin giants in 2015 for Bayern Munich. He won three back to back Bundesliga titles before joining Barcelona in 2018. The Chilean superstar has so far made 84 appearances at the Nou Camp. The midfielder lifted the La Liga trophy in his first campaign in Spain.
With the amount of competition for places from the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Arthur, Vidal is understood to be open to leaving the Catalan club. His contract runs out in 2021, meaning that the Blaugrana could be looking forward to selling the midfielder, at a cut-price, instead of risking losing him on a free next summer.
What Barcelona Wants?
Barcelona are looking to turn things around in Spain. The Catalan giants are keen on getting back to winning the Champions League title. In order to do so, they will need to sign some key stars. They will be looking at a lot of top players in the summer window.
Hopefully, they can get a few deals done too. The pandemic has disrupted the sport’s industry and economies as a whole. With that being said, the clubs may not be willing to spend big money. They will be looking to sign some value-for-money stars and get things sorted.
Similar could be the case right across Europe, for a few seasons at least. With that being said, a lot of good, quality stars want to join Barca. Things could get really interesting, as the Catalan giants look to fortify their squad. The target is the Champions League. Let’s see if things work out or not.
