The Spanish international forward, Pedro is yet to know whether he would stay in west London. There are doubts about his future at the club. Due to this, he might stay or move to any other club at the end of his contract. He has a current deal with Chelsea, which expires at the end of this season. The opportunities have been rather limited this season. He has surely not been Frank Lampard’s first choice.
“The priority right now is completing my contract, then we will see what happens. I do not know, I do not know. I have offers from many places and I will evaluate what to do next. The truth is, I do not know what is going to happen.” – Pedro told in a recent interview.
Pedro was signed by Jose Mourinho in Winter 2015 for Chelsea. The deal happened just a few weeks before he got sacked by the club. That season was one of the worst in Chelsea history. The Blues finished in 10th position in the top flight of English football that term.
The next season was completely different after the arrival of Antonio Conte. Pedro won the Premier League that season. Later, he won the FA Cup and the Europa League as well in the seasons after that. He was a key part of winning silverware for Chelsea in the last few seasons. However, this term under the management of Frank Lampard, he only made nine appearances for the Blues so far.
What Pedro Further Said?
Lampard opted to play more youngsters in the team from the Chelsea academy. After the signing of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax Amsterdam, the opportunities in the first XI would become less for sure. It will be a surprise to see Pedro, who will turn 33 this July, staying at Chelsea.
“The coronavirus situation affected everything, so at the moment we are waiting for a meeting with Chelsea,” said the Spaniard.
“I must meet with the club, but I have offers from many places too. I know that the contract is concluding, but we have not yet sat down to discuss whether to renew and continue here or not.”
“Am waiting for the meeting with the club, but I am also open to listening to other offers.”
AS Roma and Real Batis are the clubs who are interested to sign the veteran forward with some clubs in the Major League Soccer are also interested.
Is It A Good Time To Leave Chelsea?
With Pedro, there is another veteran Chelsea forward who is expected to depart Stamford Bridge at the end of this season. The player considering a move away is Willian. The Brazilian is turning 32 this year. He wants a three-year contract, which Chelsea has stated is impossible to give. The former Shaker Donetsk winger refused to sign the two-year extension with Chelsea recently.
Chelsea has already signed Hakim Ziyech for £36m from Ajax Amsterdam in February. He will join the squad after June. The Dutch league is already cancelled after the announcement from the Netherlands Football Association.
