Arsenal has reportedly been joined by European giants Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to land their primary summer target Thomas Partey. Reports in Spain claim that the Gunners are the team that has shown the most interest for the Atletico Madrid star. However, Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan are also very much in the race
Now Paris Saint-Germain, as well Bayern Munich entering the race will certainly provide the Gunners with a bigger headache. It is said that PSG is considering activating the midfielder’s £44m release clause. While Atletico Madrid is yet to give up on the Ghanaian signing a renewal with a bigger release clause.
Bundesliga champions Bayern have also listed Partey as one of the names to replace veteran Spaniard Javi Martinez. The player’s contract expires next year. It was previously reported that Arsenal’s hopes of landing the holding midfielder this summer. However, this was reliant on their Champions League qualification. It seems really difficult for them to achieve that next season.
The Latest Update On Thomas Partey
Partey himself came in for particular praise for his performances in the elite European competition this season during Atletico’s 4-2 aggregate win over Liverpool. Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has also urged his former club to rival Arsenal. He hopes that they make a move for Partey as well this summer.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old’s agents were recently forced to apologise uploading a social media post asking fans to vote on his next club. JJ Sport Managers, the company who represent Partey, posted an image on the star on Instagram with the caption: “Pick his club.”
Underneath the image of the Ghana international were the badges of Arsenal, United, Juventus, PSG and Bayern Munich. The post was swiftly deleted. The company released a short statement apologizing for fuelling the transfer speculation surrounding Partey.
It read: “In view of the publication that was made today Wednesday 29 April 2020 on our Instagram account, regarding the future of our player Thomas Partey, from JJ Sport Managers we want to convey that this publication was not approved by the company management.”
What Was Further Said?
“An internal investigation has been opened to find out what exactly happened, we are sure that this has not been intentional on the part of any of our workers and it is probably an unfortunate mistake. The publication has been deleted as soon as we have become aware of its existence.”
“In addition, the keys of all our social profiles have been modified to restrict access only to essential personnel.”
It will be interesting to see whether the deal happens or not. A lot of top clubs want the player. However, the Gunners can offer him first-team football. The north London giants are the most-keen club to add him to their squad. Their midfield is right now in shambles and they need the player.
Mikel Arteta knows that his team is in dire need of more quality players. With that being said, Partey is on top of his list at present. If the club is able to sign him, they can hope of winning something in the upcoming seasons. Else, they will just continue to struggle like they have in recent seasons.
