Ivan Rakitic’s future is in the air. The Croatian is almost sure to leave Barcelona next summer. The ideal destination, however, is not clear. Rakitic’s future in the Blaugrana colours in unclear. The Croatian is unsettled at Barcelona. The Catalan side also reportedly don’t count on him in the future. So, a move away from the Camp Nou looks certain right now. Rakitic’s former club Sevilla is interested in the midfielder. Moreover, Ivan Rakitic wants to return to his former club. However, the wages that he currently gets is the biggest obstruction to the move.
Sevilla wants to bring back Ivan Rakitic
Estadio Deportivo reports that Ivan Rakitic’s move to Sevilla looks very tough as of now. The Croatian earns €8m net per season currently. Additionally, SPORT reports that Sevilla would have to pay the transfer fee to Barcelona to secure the services of Rakitic.
Therefore, Sevilla’s Sporting Director Monchi wants Rakitic to take a substantial wage cut. In return, Sevilla will offer the 32-year-old a long contract at the club. Several sources also report that many clubs are interested in Ivan Rakitic. They will even pay him a higher salary than Barcelona. So, that also adds to Sevilla’s worry. Hence, Rakitic needs to sacrifice a substantial amount of his wages if he wants to retire at his former club.
Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Tottenham have shown their interest on Rakitic
Tottenham Hotspurs are also interested in the Croatian, as per Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo. Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also chasing the 32-year-old.
Rakitic is already at the twilight of his career. Hence, he will fancy a move to a big Premier League club. These clubs can also satisfy his wage. Juventus thinks that the Croatian is too costly for his age. Atletico Madrid can not offer Rakitic a long contract while Inter Milan wants Arturo Vidal back.
Tottenham Hotspurs is the most preferable option
Hence, Tottenham leads the race to sign the Croatian. This comes as good news for Ndombele. Ndombele is reportedly unhappy with the manager Jose Mourinho. According to the report, Ivan Rakitic may be interested to reside in London. His agent Arturo Canales, also stays in London. He has a good connection and relationship with several English clubs.
Ndombele arrived at Spurs from Lyon at a whooping price of £54m. He has not settled at the North London club. So, if Spurs go for Ivan Rakitic, then Barcelona can also push for Ndombele. The Catalan club can not pay his transfer fee full in cash. Hence, they will look to add players in the deal and Ivan Rakitic may be a very good option.
Let’s wait and watch what Jose Mourinho has planned for the Londoners. He hasn’t done anything substantial with them so far. The Special One has some top players. It will be interesting to see how things develop now. Whether he can really make a positive impact or not, remains to be seen in the days to come.
