Confirmed: Chelsea Youngster Signs A New Long-Term Contract

The 2019-20 season has been crucial to some of the young players in the Chelsea academy. 18-year-old teenager, Tino Anjorin is one of the talented academy graduates to get into Chelsea’s first team this season. Due to the transfer ban last summer, Frank Lampard gave Premier League debuts to eight young Blues. Tino, who joined Chelsea’s youth setup when he was only six, now have put pen on paper on five years contract.

Why The Extention With Chelsea?

“It is a brilliant feeling. I have been at the club since I was six years old so to get to this stage and then be offered another five-year contract on top of that is amazing.”

“I had no hesitation but to take it straight away because to play for the club I always dreamed of playing for is really special for me.”

Chelsea was not a club that is famous for its own homegrown players in the last couple of decades. Since Roman Abramovich’s arrival, it was difficult for the youngsters from the Chelsea academy to get into the first team. The West London outfit used to spend heavily on start signings. Youngsters used to go on loan to grow their potential and then move to a different club to pursue their careers. I have to say the transfer ban was a blessing for these young guns in the academy.

His Comments On His Extension

Anjorin added, “It has been a really crucial season for young players here. Frank, Jody Morris, and Joe Edwards have taken us on board and really committed themselves to bringing young players through.”

Talking about Lampard’s former coaches he added, “It has been really important to have those familiar faces around. It is easy to talk to people and be around the first team building more because you are welcomed in.”

Anjorin, the top goal scorer for Chelsea development squad this season, was also the captain of Chelsea’s under-18 side that reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals. He has made two appearances for Chelsea this season. His debut came against Grimsby Town in the Capital One Cup where the Blues won 7-1. In our very last game before the lockdown, Anjorin was given the Premier League debut against Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton in the 4-0 home victory.

What Did He Say About His Chelsea Debut?

The teenager recalled his senior debut in the Carabao Cup and added, “Coming on and playing well as I did in the 20 minutes that I had, it was amazing. It just feels brilliant to be out there and hear the crowd because you don’t really experience that kind of atmosphere at Under-23s level.”

‘You feel like everyone is behind you. When I was about to come on, I remember just hearing this massive roar which was completely unexpected. I thought it would be quiet because nobody knew who I was but I think they knew I was from the Academy so the support was brilliant. It put a smile on my face for the rest of the day!”

“Against Everton, I will never forget the fans singing my name because it just felt so amazing. I was on the pitch playing and then I just heard them chanting ‘Tino, Tino, Tino’. It was unbelievable to hear that.”
