Ronald Koeman Talks About The Transfer Activities Of Barcelona

Ronald Koeman, the newly recruited Barca coach has highly impressed the Cules in a very short time. FC Barcelona has won two of their first three matches and drawn the difficult fixture against Sevilla. It is a decent start for the Spanish side given the controversies that it had to go through after the 8-2 defeat.

Ronald Koeman has been very straightforward and outspoken regarding the transfer market. He has openly agreed that the club’s financial state is not much stable due to the COVID-19 situation. Has also opened up about the players that he especially wants to sign for his team. Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia are a few of those names.

What Ronald Koeman Stated Recently?

Koeman talked a bit about the current squad and why they were unable to get some of the players they wanted.

Barcelona hiring Ronald Koeman reeks of retread, won't satisfy Messi

“I am very happy with the squad that we have. We have tried to improve: With some things we have done that, and others we have not, but that is also partly due to the club’s financial situation. We have to accept it and work hard.”

He has been able to bring in some of the players that he wanted like Sergino Dest, the American full-back. The club’s funds couldn’t fulfil his other grants as of now. Koeman, however, is optimistic that there will be some meaningful additions to the club in the January (winter) transfer window.

He also praised the two new young requirements of FCB- Pedri and Fransisco Trincão. “Pedri and Trincao have been working since day one, performing well. Pedri is only 17 and I love how he is working, training and playing. Trincao is also adapting quickly to our ideas, and he is a young player with a great future ahead of him.”

There have been a lot of questions regarding why Miralem Pjanic is not starting for Barca. Regarding that, Koeman said, “Pjanic has arrived here a little later, but he will gradually get up to full fitness. He has a lot of quality.”

Went on to talk about Araujo, Sergino Dest and one of the most controversial Barca player right now, Ruigi Puig. He went on to add, “Dest looked very comfortable in his 20 minutes against Sevilla.”

The Story Of The Barcelona Transfers So Far

“Araujo has a great future ahead of him. A physically strong and pretty fast. A kid who wants to learn. He is always open to learning new things. Has things to improve, which is normal at his age. Riqui has decided to stay. If his performance is there, then he will have opportunities to play.”

There had been speculations regarding Ruigi Puig’s stay. However, Ruigi has now officially stated that he’s gonna wait for his turn in the club (Barcelona) and be patient.

Koeman was initially criticised regarding his stand against Luis Suarez. He was also targetted by the Barca fans during the Messi saga when it was rumoured that Koeman did not want the team to be built around Leo. His vision to transform the team in a positive way seems to have now won the hearts of the Cules. The Barca fans have liked his attacking style of play in the first three matches.

Most players are now out on their international duties. The rest have been given a rest by Koeman. They are expected to return back on Monday to start preparing for the match against Getafe.
