‘I Do Not Really Like Attention!’- Christian Pulisic Makes Complex Statement

Pulisic

Chelsea’s young American forward says he is okay to play in empty stadiums as he does not like getting the spotlight much. Pulisic joined Chelsea in the summer of 2019 from Borussia Dortmund for a transfer fee of £58m. Despite a slow start to his career in London, Pulisic proved vital in the later stages for Frank Lampard’s men, arguably was their best player.

Due to injury issues, the 22-years-old has been in and out of the side this season so far. For most parts of his career as a blue, Pulisic played without fans in the stadium, and that does not bother him as he claims he has matured as a player in this phase.

The USMNT star also insists that he wants to be the main man for his national team.

“It’s not as enjoyable to play with no fans. But in a way, I like it, because I don’t really like attention and all that stuff.

“And that’s also when I probably have grown the most as a player.” – Pulisic.

“Going into a national-team game, I never thought that I need to perform because everyone is expecting me to be the best player.”

“I would put pressure on myself because I wanted to do well. I wanted to be that player that everyone wanted me to be.”

Playing under Thomas Tuchel is a big positive for Pulisic – Berhalter

Pulisic’s national team head coach Berhalter believes that playing under Thomas Tuchel is a big positive for Pulisic, as both know each other very well since the days at Dortmund. Pulisic played under Tuchel in 2016 for one season where he showed some promise in those early days.

“For Christian, I think the benefit is, if Tuchel is the coach, that he knows him very well and that’s always important. He Is coming in with a really good understanding of what Christian can do and his skillset, and I think that’s important.”

“He also has seen Christian develop and improve over his time at Dortmund and, for Christian, it is the familiarity with how he coaches, his coaching staff, his communication style.”

“That is all helpful. There is not that an uncomfortable period when you are getting to know the coach. I think those could possibly be the benefits.”

Tuchel reacts after a goalless draw between Chelsea and Wolves:

The Blues played out a 0-0 draw at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers which was the very first game under the 47-years-old German head coach. Tuchel got only a day before that game to manage a training session. Pulisic started the game from the bench, something Tuchel called is an unfair call.

Tuchel

“In Christian for sure, I know very well what he is capable of. He had a big, big input, it was an unfair decision for him today to not start. I told him it was only because I know what he can bring from the bench. I am not sure what others can do but I know you can bring things for us and absolutely change it for us.

“He did amazing and he told me at half time ‘coach, you have been pronouncing the name Azpi wrong’ so he helped me with that!”
