The pandemic has impacted the whole world and no one is really safe from its impact. To add to that, the struggles get even worse when your football club is in shambles. Though a lot of top clubs have been struggling to revive themselves, none other than Arsenal FC is talked about on Social Media platforms. The reason for that has been the fact that the Gunners have been struggling from prior to the start of the pandemic and in fact have added some decent players this summer, though the job is far from done.
A section of the fanbase that likes to call themselves the majority and is displeased with Mikel Arteta. Further, the loss to Brentford hit the team and the club’s faithful hard as well. This has not worked well for Arsenal, along with the fact that they have owners that seldom care about the state of the club and what the fans want.
There is always some need for positivity at such times and former players/legends can be the perfect role models to bring some light in these times of darkness. One such former player, Invincible and club legend is Gilberto Silva (also a World Cup and Copa Libertadores winner), who has always been such an ambassador of the positive times and glory days of Arsenal. He currently also hosts a Podcast called The Invisible Wall Podcast on Spotify as well.
The Gesture By Arsenal Legend Gilberto Silva And What It Meant To The Arsenal Fanbase?
In such times of darkness, the legends are the ones that the fans look up to. Though not all legends and former players can be this comforting, Gilberto Silva still does have his calming aura. Not just on the pitch while he used to play, the defensive spearhead has still got it. Even his presence on Social Media platforms gets the fans motivated and he can win over hearts with simple replies.
Recently, a female fan named Sophie, host of Gooner Gossip TV was talking on a post put out by AFTV (previously known as Arsenal Fan TV). The post was about the Burgundy shirt from the time when O2 was the official sponsor. AFTV asked the fans what the jersey reminded them of?
Below is the Tweet sent out by AFTV-
When I see this shirt I think of _____________.#AFC #AFTV pic.twitter.com/Uekh3XViem

The Arsenal fans are always nostalgic. That is due to the fact that all the best football seen by the recent generations was played under Wenger towards the start of the new century and during the final years at Highbury. Gilberto Silva reacted with a simple comment, as he went down memory lane.
I think of amazing memories

To which Sophie replied with equal simplicity, talking to an Arsenal legend-

While having this simple conversation, Sophie talked about how things have been tough in recent times. To which the Arsenal legend, Gilberto Silva had a brilliant response-
Gilberto things have been hard for me lately and you interacting with me and following me means the world to me. Thank you so much Legend. Enjoy the match today ♥️♥️

The world is very tough right now and it’s important you know you aren’t alone feeling like this. You’ve got this. I see you have a YouTube channel…
— Gilberto Silva (@GilbertoSilva) August 22, 2021
Brilliant message by the Invincible that was ReTweeted out by various members of the Arsenal fanbase including us. It was just the kind of inspiration that the fans need at such times. Supporting each other during these hard times to get back to the better ones. That’s how football fandom should be.
We hope that things go back to how they used to be for the north London giants and former players and legends like Gilberto Silva can continue to inspire more people to leave Arsenal and the beautiful game of football.
