Barcelona President And Management Unhappy With Jordi Alba

Barcelona Have Now Set Their Sights On A New Youth Prospect

The financial crunch of FC Barcelona is no real secret anymore. The fans and the media knows all about it. They have accepted it and are well aware of the reasons why the La Liga giants wanted to join the European Super League (ESL) project. Letting go of talisman Lionel Messi was a clear indication of the dire straits that the club is in at the moment. They can only do things better from here on.

Keeping that in mind, the club had asked a lot of players previously to take a pay cut. They were keen on reducing their wage bills for quite some time. This was to inculcate the new players that had joined Barcelona in the summer. To add to that, they wanted to get rid of some of the other stars. This would help the recruitment to further bring in new stars.

Why Is The Barcelona President And Club Management Unhappy With Jordi Alba?

With the change of rules imposed by La Liga, things got a little complicated for Barca. The club had to adjust some of its financial policies, in order to accommodate the players that had been signed. They have been struggling with the registrations of some of these stars.

Messi too was offered a contract with lesser wages, which did not go down well with his entourage. Eventually, the best player in the team had to leave after 21 long years. This did not go down well with some of the players.

Now, the club has asked Jordi Alba to take a pay cut too, though the player has so far refused to do so. This has not gone down well with the management and it has been highlighted that the president of the club, Joan Laporta is unhappy with him too. This has been confirmed by the Diario AS.

Earlier, Gerard Pique had agreed to reduce his wages substantially to help the club register Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Rey Manaj. Further, Sergi Roberto and Sergio Busquets are also in talks to follow in his footsteps. Keeping that in mind, the club is not happy that Alba hasn’t agreed to do so yet and is reluctant for the same.

Barcelona is clearly in a financial crisis but has not lost its ambition so far. They are keen on competing for titles and trophies and have brought in some quality players. However, for the registrations of these new stars, pay-cuts were a must based on the new La Liga policies. This has forced some of these established stars to do so.

With that being said, Jordi Alba will have to think about the consequences of his rebellious approach. Barca is already keen on getting rid of players they deem surplus. They have replaced quite a few stars and could do the same with more. Keeping that in mind, it will be interesting to see how this situation gets actually handled. Only time will tell!!
