Edinson Cavani Gives The Green Signal To Leave Manchester United This January

Cavani

Edinson Cavani is allegedly ready to quit Manchester United in the January transfer window in order to join Real Madrid, according to reports in Spanish media.

A report from the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims that Real Madrid has received a significant boost in their pursuit of Edinson Cavani. The veteran striker is open to the possibility of leaving Manchester United in order to join the Spanish giants. That is during the January transfer window, according to reports.

Edinson Cavani joined Manchester United on a free transfer in the summer of 2020. That was despite the fact that there was a lot of doubt around him before his arrival at Old Trafford. In contrast, the Uruguayan international has gone a long way toward assuaging many of the doubters. He has made some significant contributions to the Red Devils during their most recent campaign.

However, with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, there is a strong belief that he will be relegated to a rotating role for Manchester United. That is already visible at the start of the 2021/22 season. The Uruguayan has featured in only one game in the starting lineup so far this season. He has been coming in as a substitute in three others, but an injury layoff has played a role in that. Real Madrid, on the other hand, has been made aware of his predicament.

Real Madrid already has one of the greatest attackers in the world in Karim Benzema. However, it is important to note that the Frenchman does not have any strong backups. Particularly, given the fact that Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz have failed to make any kind of impact. Therefore, it is critical that the Merengues have a striker in place in the near future to provide a counter-balance to the Frenchman.

How will the situation pan out in the January Transfer Window?

If Real Madrid were to sign Erling Haaland, they would be making a wise decision by securing the services of an experienced striker in the meantime. After taking all of this into consideration, it seems like Los Blancos have a strategy in mind for the January transfer window.

According to recent rumours, the Spanish giants are planning a winter transfer for Cavani. That is in order to compete for the championships with a greater chance of success in the second half of the campaign. Real Madrid has received a boost in their pursuit of Manchester United forward Anthony Martial. According to Mundo Deportivo, is open to the possibility of leaving Old Trafford in favour of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Manchester United’s position on Cavani’s possible January departure is still unclear. The club is expected to make every effort to keep the 34-year-old striker in the club’s ranks this coming winter. It would be fascinating to see whether Real Madrid can lure the Uruguayan striker away from Manchester United in January. Or if he chooses to remain at Old Trafford in his current role as a team captain.

This will be a tough call for the player. The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has not helped his case. He is already struggling to get enough game time. With that being said, a departure from Manchester United does look imminent.
