Manchester City Intent On Signing Darwin Nunez; A Player That FC Barcelona Wants

Darwin Nunez, the emerging star from Benfica, is expected to be signed by Manchester City for a price of £70m, according to reports.

As reported by the Daily Star, the battle to sign SL Benfica striker Darwin Nunez is heating up. The attacker is emerging as one of the most highly sought-after players on the market. Manchester City and FC Barcelona, in particular, are among the teams vying for his signature in the near future. Both clubs are bidding for his services.

Because of their good connection with Benfica, City feels considerably more confident in their ability to sign Nunez. After all, the reigning English champions had just recruited Ederson and Ruben Dias, while players such as Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo had previously represented the Portuguese giants before their transfer to the Etihad Stadium.

However, it was his performance against FC Barcelona that cemented his position as a highly sought-after talent in the market. He was one of the standout players for Benfica in their 3-0 victory against Barcelona. That too particularly when he scored a spectacular brace to secure all three points for his side.

Barcelona and other clubs are competing for the services of the Uruguayan international as a result of his impressive display. The 22-year-old has already shown his capacity to play at the top level of football, but they may be in for even more disappointment as Manchester City ratchet up their chase of him.

Nunez presently has a release clause at Benfica worth around £125m, but the Citizens are confident in their ability to sign him for as little as £70m in the near future. It seems that the kid, who is a centre striker by trade, may eventually show himself to be Sergio Aguero’s chosen successor in the coming years.
