Xavi Hernandez, the newly appointed Barcelona manager, is allegedly interested in bringing Francisco Trincao back to the Camp Nou after his loan stint with Wolves came to an end.
It has been reported that Francisco Trincao might be on his way back to Barcelona during the January transfer window at the request of new manager Xavi Hernandez. The news comes from the Portuguese daily Record.
Trincao joined Barcelona from Portuguese club SC Braga in the summer of 2020, but he struggled in his first season at the Camp Nou. In his previous role as manager, Ronald Koeman did not always believe in the 21-year-old and often used him out of position, which resulted in him never being able to establish himself at the club.

A meagre three goals and two assists in 42 appearances for the Blaugrana during his debut season with the club was a disappointing result for the Brazilian. The Dutch coach was quick to move him on loan to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers when the summer transfer window opened earlier this year. He has already made a number of appearances for them.
Trincao has made nine appearances for Wolves in all competitions while under the supervision of his countryman Bruno Lage, and he has scored a single goal in the process. The youngster’s performances haven’t exactly lit the world ablaze, but he has shown glimpses of building confidence that comes with playing on a consistent basis.
The Portuguese international, on the other hand, might be on his way back to Barcelona in the near future. Due to injury concerns in the team, new manager Xavi is determined to operate with natural wingers in his offensive line. However, he will need more depth in those areas.
Xavi wants natural wingers in his team at Barcelona, a demand that the club is working to satisfy
Ansu Fati returned to the field after almost a year on the sidelines, but he has since suffered two fresh ailments, while Ousmane Dembele is still out with a hamstring injury. After suffering a major injury to Martin Braithwaite as well as Yusuf Demir failing to live up to expectations, it is understandable that Barcelona would try to improve the quality of their offensive unit.
A transfer for Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling has been hotly discussed, while RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo is also being considered as a potential replacement. However, the duo’s contracts will not be inexpensive. Given Blaugrana’s financial predicament, it may make more sense for them to bring back someone like Trincao, especially given the fact that the club will require money to invest in a new centre-forward in January.
With the exception of a few shining moments here and there, the 21-year-first old’s season in Catalonia was a disappointment. If Barcelona decides to cut short his loan stay at Wolves, he will expect to perform better under the tutelage of Xavi’s leadership.
