AS Roma have allegedly set their eyes on Real Madrid utility player Lucas Vazquez, with manager Jose Mourinho eager to reunite with the Real Madrid player.
As reported by the Italian source Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma are interested in signing Lucas Vazquez during the next January transfer window. Spanish giants Real Madrid are open to the possibility of offloading the 30-year-old, with manager Jose Mourinho ready to reconcile with the player.
The Real Madrid academy developed Lucas Vazquez into a top player, who had joined the club as a 16-year-old in 2007. He went on to play professionally for them three years later. Although he had to wait a while before breaking into the first-team setup, he finally made his way onto the scene in the 2015/16 campaign. Since then, the Spaniard has shown to be a valuable asset for each of the managers who have had the opportunity to work with him.
Due to his ability to play as a right-back as well as a wide attacker, Vazquez has established himself as one of Real Madrid’s most versatile players. He has made 253 appearances for his club, contributing 27 goals and 54 assists in the process. His time at Real Madrid, on the other hand, did not come to an end in the January transfer window. However, with AS Roma reportedly interested in acquiring him, it could still happen at the end of the season.
The Latest Update On This Transfer And Will The Deal Go Through?
After barely three months in the job, Jose Mourinho’s positive aura has vanished, with AS Roma have won just one of their past seven games in all competitions under the Portuguese manager’s guidance. Moreover, it seems as if the Serie A club will continue to spend heavily in the January transfer window, as they did during the summer transfer window as well.
Anwar El Ghazi, who has been linked with a January transfer to Roma, seems to be a key element of the club’s plans for wide offensive reinforcement. The Giallorossi have now identified Vazquez as a potential target, which makes sense given that Carles Perez has not been able to earn the trust of Jose Mourinho so far this season.
Interestingly, Vazquez is not the only Real Madrid player on the radar of the Italian club, who have also been connected with Dani Ceballos, Nacho and Luka Jovic in recent months. The recruitment of the 30-year-old, on the other hand, might be the most uncomplicated of their chases, with Carlo Ancelotti willing to sell him and, in the process, permitting a reunion with Jose Mourinho on the pitch.
Such a position is unexpected, given that Real Madrid had been anxious to sign Vazquez to a new contract during the summer transfer window. Although it seems unlikely that he will leave the club, Real stands to gain a significant sum from his sale. It remains to be seen if Roma will pursue their interest in him further this winter or not, with Mourinho keen on adding midfielders.
