GT vs SRH Live Update: Brian Lara, the batting coach for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has spoken up about how he has passed on his knowledge to new players during the present IPL 2022.
Before the start of the season, the legendary West Indian batsman became the franchise’s batting coach. His influence can be seen in the fact that Hyderabad has won five games in a row after opening the season with successive losses.
What did Lara say about his role?
For Lara, who has been spending additional time with the batters, it is more about man-management and getting to know each player on a personal level. This is what the former player stated in a video that was posted by the Hyderabad franchise:
“Yes, I believe there are several approaches to getting a player to comprehend what you’re talking about by trial and error. He may just go through a time of trial and error where you know he knows what’s going on simply through failure. Others are more ready to seize the chance when it presents. And even before they get to the point of failure, they understand where you’re coming from, which is helpful.”
Lara went on to say:
“Consequently, you must have a part of yourself where you may put your hand over the shoulders of those young ones who are not faring as ideally as possible. They’re the ones you need to utilize to kind of push you in the correct way. They’re the ones who understand what you’re trying to do. It is a process of discovery. It takes a lot of man-management and the ability to understand one another as well as each player and what makes him tick.”
Abhishek Sharma of the Sunrisers Hyderabad has appeared to be the most improved batter so far in this round of the cash-rich tournament. This is the first time the left-hander has found his groove since a couple of lackluster outings at the start of the tournament. He has scored 220 runs in seven games this season, at an average of 31.43 runs per game.
GT vs SRH Live Update: “I try to get myself back into that place” – Dale Steyn, coach of the SRH speed bowling unit
Hyderabad has one of the finest pace assaults in the competition. Each player is contributing to the team’s overall success at the highest level. Umran Malik, a young fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, has caught the attention of many with his ability to bowl at speeds of up to 150 kph constantly.
According to SRH pace bowling coach Dale Steyn, he tries to put himself in that situation and recalls what he did when going through a similar period of development.
The former Proteas fast bowler had this to say about his new role:
“In my career, and I’m sure in Brian’s career as well, there was a time when it was just as tough, you know. I was sitting in the same shoes as that particular athlete.”
He went on to say:
“I try to put myself back in that space and remember when I was struggling with a particular thing, and we’re trying to figure something out and, give them tips on how I did it to improve myself, but also recognising that players are already good enough to be here and they’re not trying to break them into doing something that’s like it’s not possible to do with their skills at the best of their ability.”
When the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium, they will want to extend their winning run.
