DC vs SRH Live Update: Piyush Chawla, a former India spinner, has provided a preview of the IPL 2022 match between the Delhi Capitals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, which will take place on Thursday. Chawla anticipates that the Delhi Capitals’ swashbuckling opener David Warner will be revved up when he faces his old team.
Sunrisers Hyderabad received negative feedback after they handled Warner in the IPL 2021. He was also dropped from the starting XI as a result of his poor form. This resulted in him losing his leadership to Kane Williamson. Warner, who guided the team to the championship in 2016, sat in his hotel room and watched a game in the United Arab Emirates.
In an interview with ESPN Cricinfo’s Timeout, Chawla said that he anticipates a mouth-watering competition, saying:
“It will be fascinating because, based on how things turned out the last time, he may be carrying some grudges into the game this time.”
The 35-year-old has been one of the most consistent hitters in the history of the Indian Premier League. He was awarded the Orange Cap three times. He also captained the Sunrisers to three consecutive playoff appearances before being dismissed ahead of this year’s blockbuster auction.
DC vs SRH Live Update: David Warner will want to prove a point
Also, Chawla offered his opinion on Rishabh Pant‘s problems against pacers. He stated that the Indian batsman must change his batting strategy. Even though the keeper-batter loves to bat freely, the former KKR spinner believes that he must take calculated risks to succeed. Chawla expressed himself as follows:
“Take a look at the way he swings. He likes to bat freely. During the last match, we observed that his approach was simple: ‘If it’s in the slot, I’m going to hit it.’ This was Pant’s strategy, whether he was facing his second or third ball. Pant, on the other hand, is well aware that there was not much batting to come. Once Mitchell Marsh left, Pant slowed down. He is also cognizant of the fact that if he is eliminated, the match will tilt in favour of the opponent.”
He went on to say:
“As a result, he has to take his time. We want the same Rishabh Pant as before, but in a different way. If it’s in the slot, it’s going to have to be struck hard. There are no shackles in Twenty20 cricket. It is not feasible to score runs unless the batters believe in their abilities. Pant may want to steer clear of the shots he takes out of nowhere.”
With just 234 runs in nine innings at an average of 33.42 runs per inning, the Capitals’ skipper failed to reach a half-century in this season’s campaign. The left-hander, on the other hand, has maintained a strike rate of 149.04.
“I believe Mustafizur has bowled brilliantly, and I do not believe there is a need for many adjustments.” – Piyush Chawla
When questioned whether Anrich Nortje deserved to replace Mustafizur Rahman, Chawla said that the latter had bowled well in his absence. In addition, the former leg-spinner believes that Khaleel Ahmed would not be able to replace Shardul Thakur, who is a useful batter, in the team. Chawla went on to say:
“Look, I believe Mustafizur has bowled well. I don’t believe there is a need for many adjustments. It’s not easy to come back from an injury and put up a good performance. But Mustafizur is doing just that.”
He went on to say:
“If Khaleel is healthy, I don’t see him taking on Shardul since the Capitals have placed their trust in the latter as a result of his batting performance as well. As a result, I believe he has the potential to succeed Chetan Sakariya. Nonetheless, he hasn’t done too terrible himself. However, as we have seen in the IPL, what is best for the team, the management goes with that.”
The Capitals have been uneven this season, which is in contrast to expectations. They have lost five of their nine games this season and must win a run of games to qualify for the playoffs.
