IPL 2022 Final: “It Was His Greatest Season In The IPL”-Sanjay Manjrekar Heaps Praise On David Miller For His Performance In IPL 2022

Latest Hardik Pandya News: "I Want To Win The World Cup, No Matter What Happens"- Hardik Pandya Sets A New Goal For Hims After Winning IPL 2022

IPL 2022 Final: Recently, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar remarked that David Miller made a huge contribution with the bat for the Gujarat Titans (GT). He identified Miller as one of the outstanding performers from the Gujarat Titans’ championship run in the Indian Premier League 2022.

In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Manjrekar remarked that David Miller has not been successful in making an impression in prior seasons of the Indian Premier League. On the other hand, he emphasized that the southpaw was able to turn things around during his time spent with GT in the most recent edition.

The former cricket player, who now works as a broadcaster, showered admiration on the South African batsman for his performance during crucial moments for the Gujarat-based team in the game. Additionally, he said that he believed that Miller had his finest Indian Premier League season ever this year.

“David Miller was the most unexpected of the bunch. All of the subsequent seasons, except the first couple of years of his career, turned out to be unsuccessful for him. This year, he was playing for a different team. He all of a sudden began to pick up his game. It was his greatest season in the IPL. He not only batted very well in the championship match, but he also played a match-winning knock in the first qualifier,” Manjrekar said.

It is important to note that Miller finished the IPL 2022 with 481 runs after playing in 16 games. In addition to this, he scored runs at a remarkable strike rate of 142.72 and concluded with an outstanding batting average of 68.71.

On Sunday, during the critically vital matchup with the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the left-handed batsman made a significant contribution by scoring 32 essential runs off of just 19 deliveries. In the 19th over, he was instrumental in his team’s successful pursuit of a total of 130 runs.

We are not quite ready to refer to GT as a big team just yet. – Sanjay Manjrekar

The 56-year-old commentator went on to say that even though GT had been declared winners in their very first Indian Premier League season, they would need to demonstrate consistency in the years to come to become a powerful side.

According to him, RR will also be required to carry out the same actions in the coming seasons.

In his opinion, the reason why teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have been so successful over the last few years is that they have a large number of players on their teams who can win their games regularly.

Manjrekar reveals what will make GT and RR a big team

According to Manjrekar, to be considered powerful teams, GT and RR need to play in the same manner.

“If a club has been successful, it is because, during that specific season, they have managed to do everything perfectly. We still cannot consider GT to be a significant team at this time. It is still unknown how well they will play the next season, even though they have already won the title. The same is for RR, who, after a long period, made it to the final. When CSK and MI were at the height of their powers, they each had 8–9 players who were instrumental in their continual victory,” Manjrekar added.

At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the team captained by Hardik Pandya scored a decisive victory over RR. They defeated them by seven wickets to claim the highly prized IPL trophy.

For their dominating performance throughout the competition this year, the team has garnered praise from every possible source.
