IPL 2022 Final: Aakash Chopra has observed that a new era in the history of the illustrious league has begun as a result of the Gujarat Titans’ (GT) success in winning the championship in the Indian Premier League 2022.
Everyone was taken aback when the Titans, one of the two new teams to join the IPL bandwagon, finished on top of the points table after the league phase of the competition. They proved their mettle by coming in first place during their first season in the league.
IPL 2022 Final: Aakash Chopra Praises Gujarat Titans
In a video that was uploaded to his channel on YouTube, Chopra brought attention to the fact that the performance of Hardik Pandya’s squad on the field was superior to that of the more well-known teams. He went on to explain:
“Step down from the throne, Gujarat has arrived. The Gujarat Titans have emerged victorious as the new champions. It is time to usher in a new era since the 10-team Indian Premier League has announced that players would no longer be renowned for their names but rather for their accomplishments. The well-known teams are now in last place. But the squad that made their debut will be remembered for the incredible things they accomplished.”
The former cricket player turned broadcaster also said that the Titans had shown most cricket analysts, including himself, that they were incorrect. He went on to explain:
“My impression was that the Gujarat Titans hadn’t been able to put together a competitive squad. Therefore, you realise that even if you have an idea of what will occur, things do not always turn out the way you expect. The bowling was strong, the batsmen stepped up to the plate. David Miller had a season out of a dream. Wriddhiman Saha didn’t get much playing time but was effective when he did.”
After the IPL 2022 auction, several knowledgeable cricket commentators concluded that the Titans had put together a subpar team. Nevertheless, during the course of the season, they showed a level of consistency that disproved their detractors’ claims.
“This was a spectacular season,” said Aakash Chopra on the phenomenal run that the Gujarat Titans had.
Aakash Chopra observed that the Titans could play even with an underperforming Matthew Wade in their eleven. He said:
“Even though Matthew Wade did not drive in any runs, it was of little consequence to the outcome. They demonstrated their prowess in the bowling competition. They placed the other teams in a difficult situation, and ultimately prevailed to take first place. This was an amazing campaign all the way around.”
While acknowledging that Hardik Pandya was the best performer of the day, the Gujarat Titans’ other two draft selections, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill, also provided the goods, according to the 44-year-old. Hardik Pandya was named the Man of the Match. He said:
“In his four overs, Rashid only allowed 18 runs and took one wicket. He was incredibly efficient. Everyone else is struck, yet he is immune to anybody else’s blows. Every one of the three draft selections contributed to the team’s performance in the final. Whether you look at Hardik, Shubman, or Rashid Khan. In the end, the fact that Shubman Gill played well and did not lose his cool is what matters.”
As a result of Gill’s unbeaten 45 off 43 deliveries, the Gujarat Titans were able to reach their target of 131 runs with relative ease.
The Rajasthan Royals batting order was shaken up in the middle overs by Rashid’s 1/18 and Hardik’s 3/17.
