Latest Arsenal News: The information that Arsenal is planning an opening offer for Gabriel Jesus, who is now playing for Manchester City, was divulged by the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. There have been persistent rumors that the Gunners are interested in signing the Brazilian striker. A transfer is expected to take place this summer.
Romano tweeted the following on Jesus’ possible transfer to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the current season:
“The opening offer for Gabriel Jesus is currently being prepared by Arsenal. Even though Gabriel’s current contract won’t be renewed, Manchester City is asking for anywhere between fifty and sixty million euros to trade him this summer. Gabriel’s representative has already been in contact with Arsenal. When I asked agent Pettinati about the idea, he said, “We like the project.”
According to Romano, the Gunners have already had discussions about the deal with Jesus’ agent. He currently has an interest in his client’s move to North London. Jesus himself also wants the move.
Gabriel Jesus’s primary role at City has always been that of a backup striker. The Brazilian international player was once the team’s second-stringer after Sergio Aguero. Jesus was unable to establish himself as a regular starter even though the Argentine attacker had departed the team the previous summer. City also did not add a new forward to its roster.

However, as the season draws to a close, Jesus has begun to put the ball in the back of the net more often. A month ago, when they beat Watford by a score of 5-1, he scored four goals. Jesus has played in 39 games across several tournaments. He has scored 13 goals and supplied 12 assists for a total of 25 points.
Despite his current scoring streak, Jesus does not start a lot for City. This is why he will be leaving over the next summer. As officially announced by the Cityzens, Erling Haaland will join the Cityzens from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Therefore, a move to Arsenal seems to be the most advantageous option for Jesus at this point. Due to the possibility that the Gunners do not have a recognized striker, the 25-year-old would be one of the primary offensive threats for the team.
The team led by manager Mikel Arteta has seen its star player, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, depart in January to sign with Barcelona. There are still lingering uncertainties over the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah. Both of whom will be leaving on free transfers this coming summer.
