Jurgen Klopp Hits Out At Tottenham’s Tactics After The 1-1 Draw At Anfield

Latest Liverpool News

Latest Liverpool News: The tactics used by Tottenham Hotspur in their 1-1 Premier League tie with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday have been criticized by Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager.

In Klopp’s pursuit of the quadruple, Spurs put on a magnificent defensive display. The Reds were unable to take all three points away from them. Klopp was perplexed by this since it had a negative impact on his team’s chances of winning the Premier League.

Klopp said the following in an interview with BT Sport (via Express):

“The dressing room is not in the best of shape right now. But, let’s face it, anything like this may happen at any time. There are more games to play. All we have to do now is keep moving forward.”

He went on to say:

“I wish we could have won this game. But despite all of the accolades for Tottenham, they chose to remain silent. They drew with us and went on to win against Manchester City and Chelsea. Although the game strategy is effective in these games, they are still ranked sixth. Things like these, which waste time, make it simpler for them to do their jobs. We were hoping for three points, so this isn’t ideal.”

Klopp, on the other hand, praised Liverpool’s effort against Conte’s club, saying:

“I’m quite pleased with our performance and proud of the mindset we demonstrated in the face of an exceptionally talented opponent that had a game plan.”

He went on to say:

“We knew we had to win. They were content to sit back and launch counter-attacks. I thought the counter-pressing was just fantastic. Although we didn’t get the outcome we wanted, we did have the performance we wanted. I’m satisfied with that.”

The Reds now need Manchester City to lose points against Newcastle on Sunday, even though the defending champions are predicted to defeat the Magpies on Sunday. If City does this, they will be three points ahead at the top of the table with as many games remaining. Thus, making it improbable that Jurgen Klopp’s side will catch up with them.

Latest Liverpool News: Spurs manage to hold Liverpool to a draw

Even though Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may be dissatisfied with Tottenham’s use of time-wasting and other rude tactics, Antonio Conte’s team efficiently neutralized Liverpool’s danger. They put up a strong defensive performance at Anfield. Thus, surrendering just a deflected goal in the second half.

Spurs opened the goal on the counter-attack, catching Liverpool off guard with a series of rapid-fire succession passes that culminated in a squared pass to Heung-min Son. He slid the ball past Alisson with ease. The Reds leveled the score with a deflected attempt from distance by Luis Diaz. Since joining the squad in January, the Colombian has been in excellent form for his new teammates.

Even a point may not be enough for Tottenham. They are attempting to overtake Arsenal to secure one of the remaining two UEFA Champions League spots. If third-place Chelsea and Arsenal both lose points, they may still slip into the top four.
