Latest Manchester United News: The choice that Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte makes will, according to the revelations of Italian super-agent Roberto De Fanti, affect the time that Harry Kane spends playing for the club.
The striker may follow the Italian out of north London this summer and sign with Manchester United. Despite being locked into a long-term deal with the Lilywhites since 2018, Kane has been the subject of persistent speculation over a possible transfer away from the club in recent years.
During the summer of 2021, he came quite close to signing for Manchester City. However, Spurs turned down a deal of £100 million from City.
What actually has the potential to set off a transfer this summer is Conte. He has certain demands about the deal. If the club is unable to satisfy them, the Italian may quit. Kane might do the same thing if he does.
What did De Fanti say?
In his column for CaughtOffside, which was obtained through Stretty News, De Fanti wrote the following:
“He wants a striker to offer cover and competition for Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, a top midfielder, and a left-footed center back. These are not going to be cheap players.
We are talking between £50 and £60 million for each. Will Levy give his approval for that? – Time will tell. But one thing I will say is that if Conte does walk away from Tottenham Hotspur, I think Kane will go too. If that does happen, the only club the Englishman would want to go to now is Manchester United. Time will tell.”
Even though Cristiano Ronaldo scored 24 goals for Manchester United last season, the Red Devils are speculated to recruit a new attacker this summer and have Kane on their radar.
The striker will still have two more years remaining on his contract with Tottenham. But by the time it expires, he will be 31 years old, which may make it too late for Manchester United to sign him.
De Fanti believes that it would be a significant blow to the club if Kane were to leave at this time since he represents all that the Spurs club is about.
In addition to this, he wrote:
“That would be a terrible proposition for Levy, who would undoubtedly be aware that Kane is irreplaceable. Not just in terms of his talent and the number of goals he scores, but also in terms of his mindset overall. He embodies all that Tottenham Hotspur is and everything that the club stands for.”
Kane has now scored 246 goals in 384 matches for Tottenham. He is just 21 goals away from breaking Jimmy Greaves’ record to become the club’s all-time leading scorer.
Latest Manchester United News: Manchester United must make a bid for Harry Kane
It is of the utmost importance for Manchester United to get a prolific striker. Now could be the perfect moment to sign Kane.
Even at age 29, he’s at the peak of his abilities. His current market value is estimated to be £90 million. The striker has shown what he can provide by scoring another 25 goals so far this season.
In addition, the Spurs would like to gain anything from the trade of his player rather than risk losing him for nothing in two years.
