Manchester United News: Erik Ten Hag Wants Manchester United To Spend £115 Million On Two Summer Targets

Manchester United News: It has been claimed that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has recommended to the club that they make summer transfers for attacker Darwin Nunez of Benfica and defender Jurrien Timber of Ajax. The Dutch manager wants to make significant changes at Old Trafford. The two players in question are at the top of his priority list.

According to The Mirror, the two players could be purchased for £115 million. Timber will get £35 million and Nunez receiving £80 million. Since making his debut at the senior level in 2020, Timber, now 20, has been playing for Ajax under the direction of Ten Hag. He has played for the first team 74 times. During that time he has provided four goals and two assists.

Ten Hag is looking for United to get a defender who is capable of playing out from the back. This is something they do not presently have. Timber is versatile and can also play the right-back position. As a result of his performances, Nunez, who is 22 years old, has garnered a lot of attention for Benfica.

After making the transfer from Almeria to the Portuguese club in 2020 for a fee of £22 million, he became the most expensive player in Portugal. This year has been a breakout year for him. He has scored 34 goals and provided four assists across all competitions for which he has appeared a total of 41 times.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo, who is 37 years old, plays the striker position for Manchester United. Therefore, the club is in dire need of another forward. Marcus Rashford has failed to find his form. Edinson Cavani is expected to leave the club soon.

Benfica will be required to pay 20 percent of Nunez’s transfer cost to his former club Almeria. It means that Manchester United would have to spend around £80 million to get Nunez.

This summer, Erik ten Hag would want to add six new players to Manchester United’s roster

Ten Hag intends to bring in six new players during this summer’s transfer window. However, this target number may change depending on which players leave the club. It has been brought to the attention of United’s football director John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher that he has compiled a list of possible players to sign for the club.

In addition to Timber, the ex-Ajax boss has shown interest in reuniting with players such as Antony, Lisandro Martinez, and Frenkie de Jong, who now plays for Barcelona. The Red Devils need a dynamic midfielder who can control the pace of games with the impending departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

Therefore, De Jong may be a beneficial addition to the team. However, according to a rumor in Mirror, he might be pricey. It’s unlikely that Barcelona would sell him for a low price. According to Transfermarkt, the Dutch player is now valued at £63 million on the market.
