RR vs DC IPL 2022: Mitchell Marsh, an all-rounder for the Delhi Capitals (DC), discussed how difficult it was for him to find his rhythm after overcoming injury problems and COVID during the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The all-around effort that the Australian put in during his team’s victory against the Rajasthan Royals earned him the title of player of the match. This victory was very important for his team.
Marsh was unable to join the team until late because he was recovering from a hamstring injury. He struggled in his first couple of matches before being ruled out due to COVID. During the first viral epidemic that occurred among the team’s members, he was one of the players that were sick.
After spending some time in the hospital, the all-rounder was able to get back into the swing of things and has since firmly established himself in the No. 3 position in the starting XI.
What did Marsh say?
Mitchell Marsh, in a post-match chat with David Warner, said that it took him some time to establish his form in the competition, and he claimed that it took some time:
“Really makes for a nice evening. I believe that for the first two games I played after my injury and COVID, I had the impression that I was batting with the wrong end of my bat. For the past three or four games, I have had the impression that I am getting back to where I want to be. But I have not been able to get a big score. So I really enjoyed batting tonight. It turned out to be a really challenging situation.”
Marsh played a vital role in the team’s successful pursuit of 161 runs by scoring a magnificent 89 runs off 62 deliveries before he was out in the 18th over. After KS Bharat was out in the first over without scoring, he and his fellow Australian David Warner put up a partnership that was worth 144 runs.
Mitchell Marsh, after noting that it was “wonderful joy” to bat alongside Warner, who places a priority on strike rotation, remarked the following:
“It’s a lot of fun, especially considering the fact that we can run extremely quickly together. But when it comes to ones and twos, I most definitely get pushed about.”
Marsh found that the left-handed opener was an excellent ally in the fight for run scoring opportunities. Warner made his sixth half-century of the season and stayed unbeaten on 52 as DC finished off the chase with 11 balls and eight wickets to spare.
RR vs DC IPL 2022: Both Warner and Marsh had some luck
When the ball struck the stumps, the bail was jarred loose for a split second before falling back into place on the grooves. This was a significant reprieve for Warner, who was facing Yuzvendra Chahal at the time. During the same discussion, he expressed the belief that he was overdue for some good fortune in the competition by saying:
“It was about time for me to have some luck. But you have to make your own, and tonight I did. When Ponting came out for the break, he told the players to stop worrying about the ball to run ratio and to focus instead on being there at the tail end to help the team get over the finish line. It was a wonderful experience to do that. You played a terrific knock, which made it much simpler for me to hit the ball about.”
With a victory at the DY Patil Stadium, DC will keep their hopes of clinching the last position in the playoffs alive. The franchise is now in fifth position with 12 points after playing in 12 matches. They are a few of points behind Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are in fourth place (RCB).
