Dean Jones, a transfer specialist, says that Arsenal has no plans to make a move for Wilfried Zaha before the window closes on Thursday.
The 29-year-old has been talking about leaving Selhurst Park recently, but Jones doesn’t think Mikel Arteta and Edu will go after him.
What’s the most recent news about Zaha?
It looks like Arsenal’s London rivals, Chelsea, are considering making an offer for Zaha instead. MailOnline says that the Blues are thinking about making a last-minute offer for the Ivorian because Thomas Tuchel still wants to improve his attack.
Now that Zaha’s contract has less than a year left, Palace might be tempted to sell him to avoid losing him for free next summer. Jones told GIVEMESPORT in the past that the south London club might want up to £30 million for their star player. But since it’s so late in the transfer window, it’s not clear if they’re even willing to play ball.
Jones has said something about Zaha and Arsenal
Jones says that Arsenal has been keeping an eye on Zaha and that they want them to make a move for him. But the journalist doesn’t think that will happen to help Chelsea.
He told GMS, “I think one thing that will help them [Chelsea] right now is that Arsenal hasn’t done anything with it. People inside the club seem to be saying that they won’t go after Zaha right now.”
Why doesn’t Arsenal try to sign Zaha?
After failing to get Raphinha, it’s clear that Arteta wants another wide player at the Emirates. Pedro Neto seems to be the player he has his eye on.
The Evening Standard said last week that Arsenal still wants to sign a new winger and that the Wolves star is their top choice.
In the end, their interest in Neto is what makes Zaha less important to them right now. They may not be able to get the 22-year-old, though, because the same news source says that the Gunners worry that he will be too expensive for them to buy.
No matter what happens with Zaha or Neto, Arsenal could use a new wide player, especially since Nicolas Pepe is spending the season on loan. As things stand, though, it doesn’t look like either of them will sign.
