Arsenal and Chelsea, both of which are big teams in the Premier League, will compete with Liverpool to sign Belgian star Jeremy Doku
Fichajes says that Arsenal and Chelsea will compete with Liverpool for Stade Rennais forward Jeremy Doku in the January transfer window of 2023.
Before moving to Ligue 1 in 2020, the Belgian player did very well at Anderlecht. Since then, his stock has gone up, and now he is one of the players that top clubs are watching closely. Doku is only 20, but he already has a lot of experience and will only get better as he gets older.
Doku usually plays on the right side, but he can also play on the left. He is a great dribbler and passer. When you add in how fast he is and how well he can move into space, it’s easy to see why the best clubs are so interested in how he plays.
Liverpool is showing interest in him
The Belgian winger has been liked by Liverpool in particular for a long time. When he was 15, he went to the Reds’ training facility and talked to Sadio Mane, a player many thought he would be better than. Liverpool still wants to sign the young player, even though he chose to take his skills elsewhere.
Getting a right-wing player could be the key to putting Mohamed Salah in the middle. This season, the Egyptian international isn’t doing well on the wing, but he did well when he came on up front at the Ibrox on Wednesday. Klopp could think about putting him on the field with Darwin Nunez if the Reds get a reliable right winger.
But they will have a lot of competition. Under Todd Boehly, Chelsea is getting better, and the American manager is ready to throw money at the problem. Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech, who play on the wings for the Blues, don’t do as well as they should. If they can’t turn their luck around, they might have to move on. Doku is a young, hungry player, which is exactly what Chelsea has been looking for since last summer.
Will Arsenal get him?
The same is true of Arsenal, who are having a good season with Mikel Arteta as their coach. Even though the Gunners may be the best team in some games, they look much stronger than they did in the past few years. There are still some weak spots, and one of them is the wings.
Arsenal depend too much on Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, and they even gave up on loan player Nicolas Pepe earlier this year. We don’t know how long the Gunners will be able to keep up their good play without enough depth. Adding Doku in January could give them the boost they need to finish the season well.
Doku has a lot of clubs interested in him, so if there’s a bidding war, he can choose which one to go with. It also gives Rennes a huge chance to get a lot of money for the 20-year-old Belgian international player, who could be very good in the future.
