Bukayo Saka will turn down offers from other clubs, like Chelsea, to sign with them instead of Arsenal, where talks are reportedly going well
Ben Jacobs of The Football Terrace says that Bukayo Saka is ready to sign a new long-term contract with Arsenal and turn down offers from rivals like Chelsea. People in west London kept an eye on the England player because they were interested. But Saka wants to keep playing for the Gunners.
Arsenal is playing better than they have in years, and the fans’ mood is about right. The Gunners are at the top of the table and are competing with Manchester City for the Premier League title. In the short term, they need to decide on a few things to improve the atmosphere in the Emirates.
Is Bukayo Saka leaving Arsenal?
One of these is extending the contracts of young stars. It looks like Bukayo Saka is the most important player on the team. Along with the winger, Arsenal also wants to give new contracts to William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli. All three players have done very well so far this season.
Arsenal and Arteta care very much about their futures. Talks are already going on to keep these deals in place. But rival teams like Chelsea are already looking. So, the Gunners need to sort out and announce these contracts as soon as possible.
The focus is more on Saka, who just graduated from the academy, but Chelsea is still there. The Blues have started a new project in which they are trying to get some of the best football players to join them. Ben Jacobs says that the 21-year-old is high on their list. But Arsenal fans don’t need to be too worried.
What will finally happen?
Jacobs says that Saka will sign a new deal, even though Arsenal is in talks with him. He might agree to a five-year deal that pays him £200,000 per week and turn down any offers from other clubs, like Chelsea. The media have kept talking about the Blues because they can offer more money. But the English winger is happy with how far the team has come since Arteta took over.
“I don’t think Chelsea can stop this,” Jacobs said. “I think, if anything, they are being used as a bargaining chip as the last details of this deal are worked out. Saka is untouchable. Arsenal won’t sell him to a Premier League rival in the near future. The player loves working with Arteta.
As things stand, the contract is set up, and it will last about five years and pay about £200,000 per week. And that’s where Chelsea has a chance to do well. They’d be willing to pay more than £200k per week. That’s where those stories come from,” he said.
It’s good news for Arsenal fans, who want Saka to stay with the team. This season, the 21-year-old has already proven himself by scoring four goals in the Premier League. He scored two goals against Liverpool recently to keep Arsenal on top of the league.
Saka’s current contract runs out in 2024. But Arsenal has the option to keep him for one more season. In any case, the Gunners never planned to sell the winger quickly, especially not to a direct rival.
