Arsenal and Newcastle United are both interested in signing French player Houssem Aouar during the next transfer window
Fichajes says that Arsenal and Newcastle United want to sign Houssem Aouar before the transfer window opens in January. Even though his time at Lyon is coming to an end, the French midfielder is still one of the most sought-after players on the market.
Houssem Aouar is still at Lyon, even though a lot of teams were interested in him over the summer. A lot of clubs wanted to sign the midfielder, but they couldn’t agree on a deal. The 24-year-old is back in the news as the January transfer window nears.
Since last season, he hasn’t played nearly as much at Lyon. Aouar hasn’t played much league football this season. In three games, he has only played 170 minutes. And he is likely to leave the team when the transfer window opens in January.
Real Betis was one of the teams that were interested in the summer. But the cost of making a deal stopped the move. The Spanish team could try to sign the 24-year-old French midfielder again, but there may be a lot of other teams interested in him.
Will the Gunners get Houssem Aouar?
Arsenal and Newcastle United are two Premier League teams that are said to still be interested in the Lyon midfielder. After the 2022 FIFA World Cup, both clubs could make an offer.
Since last summer, the Gunners have wanted to add a new player to their midfield. Granit Xhaka is doing well in his new role as an attacker, so Mikel Arteta is thinking about getting a defensive midfielder. But if they could sign a player like Aouar, they might do it.
Also, Aouar has been connected to Arsenal for a few years. He was almost signed by the club two summers ago. But Thomas Partey was brought in instead. Arteta wants his team to be better, as a run for the title seems likely.
What’s next?
They have also been linked to a risky move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a midfielder for Lazio. The Serb will cost a lot, so Arsenal may think that Aouar is a cheaper option. Saving money on one end would let Arteta buy wingers. A few of them are rumoured to be on the move in January.
Newcastle United, on the other hand, wants to do what they did last winter when they got Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon. If they can get the 24-year-old, they might think about bringing his old teammate Aouar to St. James’ Park.
As of right now, Newcastle United is in fourth place. If they keep playing so well, they might be able to get into the top four. Eddie Howe will try to bring in good players to help the team. The 24-year-old French midfielder’s attacking skills would be a good fit.
Aouar could be a great addition to both Arsenal and Newcastle United. The 24-year-old French midfielder could attract a lot of attention if he was available for a low price.
