Mikel Arteta, manager of Arsenal, recently discussed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Chelsea earlier this year, saying that the decision to let the striker go was made collectively.
Aubameyang signed with Chelsea on the last day of the summer transfer window for £10 million after a successful six months at Camp Nou. He has played in 12 games for the Blues this season, scoring 3 goals and assisting on 1.

What did Mikel Arteta say about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure from Arsenal?
Arteta told Sky Sports about Aubameyang’s departure: “First of all, I didn’t make that choice; the club as a whole did. So, that’s my suggestion and what I think we need to do to get where we want to go. But I don’t want to pick out one person. I think there were a few of them. It was part of our plan for what we want to build.”
Arteta said the following about the rebuilding process at Arsenal: “At the end of the day, if you’re in that process and you want to go faster, people are holding the boat back and putting weight on it. I’m sorry, but we want to move even faster. There’s no time for someone to hurt the club, whether they’re a player or a member of the staff, so we made this decision.”
According to Mikel Arteta, who became the head coach of Arsenal in December 2019, the team is already two stages ahead of his five-stage plan.
What more did he say?
He said: “The ones that matter most to me are my wife and my family. That’s where you really let your guard down, talk about how you feel, and say what you really think. Then, I think the coaching staff is very important because you can really tell what’s going on, how they feel, and how they can help you.”
He kept going: “Third, you need a club behind you that knows what’s going on and what it will take to get from where we are now to where we want to be. The good thing is that I had a very clear plan. I made a plan with five different stages for the club, which shows how we compare to the other teams.”
Arsenal presently sits at the top the Premier League rankings with 37 points after 14 games thanks in large part to Arteta’s strategies. They lead second-place Man City by five points.
Arsenal will play West Ham United at home in the Premier League on Monday (December 26).
