Arsenal Transfer News: The Gunners have now joined the Foxes in the race for the potential free transfer of Borussia Dortmund star midfielder

Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal recently churned out a 3-2 thriller win over Bournemouth at The Emirates. This win must have surely boosted their morale going forward into the latter stages of the season. After being down with a 0-2 lead against the Cherries, the Gunners came from behind and pulled off a heist. Mikel Arteta’s side went on to score three goals and won the game.

Currently, they are on top of the points table with 63 points from 26 games. With twelve more games to go, Arsenal will be approaching the games a bit more seriously such that they would go on to win the fourth Premier League title. They will cross swords with Sporting FC in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Europa League tomorrow.

Moreover, this will also be the fifth encounter between Arsenal and Sporting CP as far as the European competition is concerned. For the record, the Gunners have maintained an incredible stat of not losing a game or conceding a goal in the previous four games. Arsenal are unbeaten in the last six meetings against a Portuguese side (won three, drew three).

After that, they will play against Fulham in the away Premier League fixture on March 12, Sunday. Mikel Arteta has a tough challenge up ahead as he will be totally busy rotating the players, with the Gunners showing ambition in both Premier League and Europa League.

'Arsenal Enter The Race Suddenly" - Arsenal Join Leicester City For The Signing Of The Midfielder For Free From Borussia Dortmund

Meanwhile, the Gunners have now entered the race for the free transfer of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud. It seems that Dortmund has chosen to not renew Mahmoud Dahoud’s contract. As per Sky Germany, Arsenal Football Club (AFC) have expressed their interest in the 27-year-old midfielder.

The footballer will part ways with the club this summer transfer window after spending six years with Borussia Dortmund. However, signing Mahmoud Dahoud won’t be that easy as a series of 10 clubs are in the queue for the star midfielder. It will be quite interesting to see what the future holds in store for the veteran midfielder who is up for grabs.

Earlier, Borussia Dortmund’s sports director by the name of Sebastian Kehl stated the club opted not to renew Mahmoud Dahoud’s contract again. He has by far featured for the club in 138 games across all competitions. The midfielder has scored five goals and provided as many as 16 assists. Meanwhile, he is yet to score a goal or provide any assists this season.

“I had a very open and honest conversation with Mo “I informed him that we would not be extending his contract in the summer. Mo has been with us for six years now, he is a very good footballer and I really have a very high opinion of him,” Kehl told Bild.

“I would not and could not say anything negative about Mahmoud Dahoud. Mahmoud Dahoud is an outstanding footballer. Dahoud was the one who blew up completely 2 years ago. Mahmoud will still be an important factor for us. We hope he stays healthy,” BVB head coach Edin Terzic told WAZ.
